nursing tank recommendations?

Hi,

I am looking for a nursing tank that I can use as an undershirt. I want to wear it underneath a regular shirt, so that when I lift my regular shirt to nurse, I can unhook the bra part of the tank, but the tank part will still cover my stomach like a regular shirt. I hope that makes sense. Basically I'm trying to prevent my belly from sticking out while nursing while still being able to wear a regular non-nursing outer shirt. I like the bravado nursing tanks, but from the picture it looks like I'd still have to lift the tank part and leave my belly exposed while nursing. My belly is ugly.

I wear a D or DD cup depending on the brand of bra, and my baby is 2 weeks old. I have two older children who both nursed for years, so I do have nursing experience if that matters.

I'm not sure if this rec will work for a D or DD cup as I'm a C and used to be an A/B. I have several of the Gilligan O'Malley (or something like that) nursing tanks from Target. Less expensive than the Bravado; I really like them. These are the only ones I've ever had so I'm not sure how they actually compare to others though.

d cup here as well, and I have 3 of the Target nursing tanks the pp mentioned. they work great for what you are talking about...

The Target tanks are great. I have several. I'm a DD and find them very supportive and work great as undershirts or on their own in the heat.

What I do is cut holes in a regular tank and wear it under my bra. Then I can wear any shirt I want! Bra keeps the holes in place perfectly, plus it's super comfortable! You might also be interested in the Milkshirt.

I personally love the Bravado nursing tanks, and like but don't love the Target ones.

Darn it, I was at Target today, and I thought of looking for the tanks and trying one on, but then the baby peed on me.

I'm thinking I definitely want to try one on first, because I like a lot of support. Thats why I was looking at the Bravado, despite how expensive they are. I lived in Bravado bras for years, and like the support. But of course if the cheap Gilligan O'Malley ones are just as good, I'll get that.

Thanks!

EMAID, I wanted the same thing as you, and found that none of the nursing tanks were long enough. In fact, most of them seem so short that I'm not sure what the point is! I think that a brand or two makes them in "long", but they were more than I wanted to pay. I find that it's just as easy to wear a regular tank underneath my shirt and pull the boob out over the top of the tank. I stretched several tanks out before I got some tanks that keep their shape. Costco sells two-packs of "Lady Hathaway" tanks that are plenty long enough AND don't immediately stretch out. I love them!

Glamourmom has longer tanks.

I have had glamourmom as well as the Target kind and I liked them both. The glamourmomtanks are longer

How about a Baby Bond? http://babybondnursing.com/
It's not quite what you are looking for, since you pull the shirt down rather than up to feed the baby through the Baby Bond.

On Target's website there are some Gilligan O'Malley tanks that come in long.

That said, I'm now wondering if the BeBand tanks I wore while I was pregnant would work if I just pulled my boob out of the top. I wore them under my maternity shirts to make my belly look a little smoother and at the end they were perfect as my belly got so big and low that it hung out of my shirts! I was planning to keep using them anyway as a way to cover my lower back in lower cut jeans (not that low cut jeans will fit anytime soon!). Maybe I'm shopping for something I already have....

Just thinking in print.

I have 3 of the Target nursing tanks that I use for layering, but mostly on their own when it's too hot to layer. I'm 5'3", 125lbs (woohoo!!!) and a DD, and they are plenty long enough, and supportive enough.
I also have a number of cheap strechy lycra tanks that I use for layering, and I just pull the neckline under my bra to nurse

Yet another vote for the Target tanks. Love them! I'm a D/DD.

I have several from Walmart--I think they are Bestform and they are less than $15. I al large busted and wear their xxl size--they are in black, white, and grey. I feel a little too exposed in public, but I wear them by themselves in really hot weather. I usually throw on a very light short sleeved sweater when I go out. They are very nice, I think, to cover the belly but don't cover anything if you wear something you open at the top.

I only need them to cover my belly, which unfortunately is pretty substantial right now. Once I lose my pregnancy weight it should dwindle down to just a little lump of mommy belly. I am 5'4" and currently 200lbs. But I will eventually get at least to 150, hopefully 130. I don't wear tank tops as anything but an undergarment because I hold myself to certain modesty standards for religious reasons.

These bestform tanks are great for what you want. They are plenty long to cover my belly and I'm the same size as you. Good luck on your weight loss. I am just trying to not eat beyond hunger (Weigh Down workshop style) and I am consistently losing about a pound a week for the past 6 weeks or so and it looks like it will take me over a year to get to my goal, but as long as I'm heading in that direction, I'm okay.

Everyone loves the target tanks, but i think that they give you very bad uni-boob. Also, if you have a tong torso at all they are too short (and kind of boxy).
So, probably ok for under stuff if you don't mind uni-boob.

I like one of the pp ideas of cutting holes and wearing a nursing bra over the tank....i might steal that one!

I prefer the Undercover Mama shirts. They attach to your own nursing bra, so you have the support you need, with the coverage you want. I Love mine and wear it everyday!

I used to hate the target tanks, but they aren't so bad anymore since they changed their design a few years ago (more supportive, but still have problems with uniboob).
I tried on this nursing tank just two weeks after giving birth (still a little engorged) and loved it! I tried on 32 E/F, and found it to be not only supportive but really attractive. Expensive, but I plan to eventually buy a 32 F/G

For a cheaper "nursing tank", I use a regular nursing bra under one of these:
http://www.target.com/Merona-Womens-...i_detailbutton
and I just pull it down/around my breast. The fabric is stretchy enough to pull under my 32 F/G breasts, but YMMV. you could always sew on one of those nursing clasps on the strap if you wanted to.
