When did you move to maternity clothes with your second baby?

I'm only six weeks but I already have a bump. I can still wear my regular clothes, but my jeans are buttoned under the bump and my work pants (which sit too high to go under the bump) are getting fairly tight. Another thing I've noticed is that for the first couple of weeks, I only had a bump from the belly button down. For the past few days, my whole belly is bigger, all the way up to my chest. Is that weird?

I didn't show much till 6 months, so this is kind of a surprise to me. When did you move into maternity stuff with your second? Did your belly end up being bigger in the end?

I got really bloated with #2 (and #3) fairly early on.
Like, pants hurt if they were tight.
Maybe a bella band might help you?
I totally carried different and IMO bigger with #2 than with #1, but my uterus measured bigger with #1 for some reason (although #2 was 1.5# heavier).

This is #3 (although my 4th pregnancy, my last ended at 13 weeks) and i'm still not quite into maternity clothes, my pants will fall down, but my regular clothes hurt. I can wear fat clothes, sweat pants and some nice summery knit skirts.

Also, I was bloated way above my belly button too...I still don't have that nice hard little bump, it's mostly squish and fluff.

Definitely serious bloat from early on. It's intense for a few weeks and then is slowly replaced by real baby bump. (Well, first it's bloat, and then as your uterus pushes your intestines/etc up, you get that pooching out, to be replaced by actual firm uterus/baby.)

I'm 13w with #3 and I'm just now in maternity clothes, but they're not quite fitting yet. Loving elastic waist skirts, and yoga pants again.

With #1, I switched to intermediate clothes (elastic waist, mostly) ~14/15 wks. Full time "real" maternity clothes by 19wks.

With #2, I didn't care and just went to yoga pants ~7 or 8wks. I didn't have to go to work or school, so I was okay with the "perpetually low key/casual" look. Mat clothes full time around 13/14wks..?

Do you do the rubber-band trick? (Loop a rubber band through the button loop on your pants and use it as the new loop over the button.)

That got me through weeks 6-12.

Congrats, BTW!

Ummm, like 7 weeks. I was in mat. clothes from 10 weeks with #1. I'm built like I'm pregnant all the time though.

I was also bloated in beginning w/ this preg(#2) I was in a wedding right at 9 weeks & felt a bit paranoid b/c of the bloating. I think I wore some maternity capris my mom got me around 16 weeks. I have some clothes that are a size bigger so I've been wearing some of them. Same thing as the clothes u wear after u have baby that aren't maternity, but not normal/skinny clothes.

9/10 weeks, I think. No real bump though, just bloating

37 weeks 2 days and have YET to wear maternity pants

lol... thats only because I wear my prepregnancy pants with a bella band and extra long maternity shirt!

I had to move up in size with DD around 6 weeks due to the bloating and this time around was in my yoga pants almost constantly from just before my bfp through about 7 weeks due to the bloating. At 7 weeks I got my bella band in the mail and moved on to wearing my regular pants, unbuttoned but zipped... then half zipped... now I cant even zip them at all lol.

At 7 weeks I gave up rubberbanding my jeans and switched over to elastic band skirts. By 10 weeks I was in maternity clothes, I do have some shirts that are still long enough..

My belly is squishy down low near my cesearean scar, but it is firm higher up(past my belly button) and my belly button is already starting to get shallow. I'm 14 weeks now.

Honestly, with DD2 I didn't move to maternity clothes any sooner than with DD1 -- around 20-22 weeks -- the only reason it might have been a bit earlier is because I actually had a whole wardrobe of maternity clothes available the 2nd time around. I didn't end up any bigger in the end either, even though she was a full pound heavier than her sister. With DD3, I was actually smaller in the belly at 40 weeks than I was with her big sisters, but ended up the same size by the time she was born at 42 weeks -- and she was another pound heavier!

I think it all just depends on our individual bodies, and if wearing maternity clothes is more comfy, I'd say go for it! I pulled out a pair of maternity capris the other day to wear even though I have no belly at all yet -- but they fit my thighs! Lol!

I don't know when I moved to maternity clothes but I know I was starting to bulge by 8 weeks with my second. I was most likely in maternity pants by 12 weeks but everything was quite snug very quickly with #2. I have heard this is quite common with subsequent pregnancies.

I think I was about 10 weeks along when I started feeling uncomfortable in my regular clothes. I started showing a lot earlier, but I didn't continue growing the whole time. There were several weeks where I didn't see any change in my size.

With my second, I was in maternity shirts around the teens. With this one, I've lots 7 pounds, so I'm still in my normal clothes at almost 15 weeks. So, I guess we'll see.

BTW if you want a picture timeline of growth... I have some on my profile on here (album titled belly lol) almost weekly from 4 weeks.

Thanks, Maeryn. I looked at your pics. Your belly did exactly what mine has done between 4 and 6 weeks. I'm 6 weeks exactly today and I'm wearing my maternity jeans around the house. I can still fit into my regular jeans and they're fine for walking around, but sitting down, bending over, it feels like they're seriously cutting into my belly, so I changed.

i forget, but definitely before 3 months. by 2 months i was wearing yoga pants that stretched though - my jeans were impossible!

I've been mostly living in wide band stretchy skirts and dresses which have carried me fine until now. I bought a couple olian maternity dresses at 16 weeks and was swimming in them, but now at 19 weeks they flatter fit. I also found some straight leg yoga pants at Ross this week too and instead of wearing over the belly I can fold them down like my hard tail ones.

I became very bloated early on with #2 - around 6 weeks. But didn't really start buying new and wearing my old maternity clothes until I was closer to 4 months along.

For my first pregnancy, I made it to 26 weeks before I had to wear maternity pants And even then, I had a couple of prepregnancy pants that I could get away with wearing for a couple of weeks extra.

I dug the maternity clothes out of storage today and I'm only 9 weeks. And I've started shopping online for stuff for the fall already. But I can't wear my normal pants anymore - they are way too tight on my hips.

I'm not exactly sure of the week but I know it was toward the end of my first trimester with dc2 and I was actually pretty small back then. With this baby (4th) my pants literally started to get tight before I got a pos. on the pregnancy test. It happens sooner with every pregnancy from what I understand.
