Canadians, where did you buy your kitchens?

I am looking for a wooden kitchen for my LO's. There are numerous very beautiful ones out there, but the shipping is just crazy expensive (we are talking 100$ at Nova...)
So where did you get your wooden kitchens?

thanks!

we have decided not to do a play kitchen (ds uses a bench as a play kitchen), but if i had my heart set on one, i'd make it using plans from knock-off wood.

i think you might be able to find ecofriendly whole wood or high quality ply wood, and build it and keep it natural in color if you wanted, or use stains for it to use some color.

but as i'm learning to DIY, i'm finding it very rewarding.

Unfortunately, the only place in Canada that I know of that sells wooden play kitchens is Natural Pod and they are charging $600. We got our from Nova and luckily we live close to the border so we were able to have it delivered to our US addy and drove it across ourselves. I don't know if that is an option for you. Although, even with the $100 shipping it's cheaper than Natural Pod. Could you find a local woodworker/cabinet maker and have one custom made?

If there a Waldorf program nearby that you could order it through? I know that our school orders things from Nova, and perhaps they get free shipping or something for spending a certain amount of $$? Or perhaps someone there might know of a local carpenter who makes them. I know there used to be a man at our local farmer's market who had lovely wooden kitchens.

Maplerose.ca has playstands and the kitchen accessories, but the price adds up quite a bit...

I got mine from etsy. I know it is in the US but he is a woodworker and ships it anywhere. You could check to see what he would charge, he is excellent!

Here is our kitchen:

And here is his info: (his name is Curt and he will design whatever you want) He will cut off customs soon for Christmas so I would contact him as soon as possible!!!

You might be able to get it a lot cheaper than can in Canada

I just noticed that imaginethatwoodshop

has kitchens for 169 or 199 he already made for sale. So even if it were 200 to ship I'd say at the most to Canada it would be less than the 600 you would spend in Canada. So you wouldn't need to get a custom order unless you needed to and he will do anything for you kitchens, dollhouses, any kind of wood toy your heart desires to your specifications and his prices are really reasonable. He was wonderful thoughout the process of doing our kitchen two Christmas' ago and my children play with their kitchen everyday!

You can contact Nest (nestfamily.ca) in Ottawa. They carry wooden kitchens made in Ottawa as well as some of the kitchens Nova carries. They also carry Camden Rose. Lisa (the owner) is also very helpful. I have purchased a few things from them and they also ship (I don't live in Ottawa).

Hope that helps.
