Need clay suggestions

Soon, we're planning to build a model of Stonehenge out of clay. I'd like to use a clay that will dry well, so that the model will be somewhat stone-like when it's done. I also don't want to spend a lot of $$$. Anyone have any suggestions for materials?

BTW, the stones will only be a few inches high, so we won't need loads and loads of clay.

oriental trading has some great clay. i've also used just plain old air dry clay by crayola. it's about $6-7 a tub & works great. i seal whatever we've worked on with modge podge & it gives it a fired pottery finish type look.

If you go with a normal potters clay get something with a bit of grog in it - it will hold up better.

How about a while or gray sculpty - you can paint it if you want and it is more durable, and you can "fire" it in the oven.
