I made a reusable alternative to wet swiffer pads!

OK. I admit it, I love swiffers. I love the way they glide easily on your hardwood. Though I have been using washable pads from the $ store for dry for a while, I hadn't been able to use them wet (the microfibre kind of stuck to the floor!). We had been buying the swiffer wet pads (not wetjet). And I had been feeling guilty.

The grippy teeth are also gone on mine so I sewed up some fleece pads that slip onto the head (one pocket on each end). Took all of 20 secs to sew.

They work really well dry, but I can also just run them under the tap and they are *awesome*. I can also spray vinegar and water on the floor and use it like a wetjet.

I totally recommend doing this. If the teeth on your swiffer aren't shot you could even just cut rectangles!

My floors are soooo clean - dare I say even cleaner than with the swiffer wet pads because there is no chemical residue!!

What a great idea! Do you just launder them? I am totally trying this!

Yep, I just have a wetbag hanging on my basment stairs that I throw them into along with used tea towels and discloths. I chuck them in a hot wash a la diapers. They come out really clean and ready to go.

would these work for the steam mops too?
Also, could you post directions for sewing? (I have a hard time visualizing things and need to see things written out.) Can you just buy the fleece from the odds and ends bin and JoAnn's?
Thank you!
