Crawling after walking for 4 months?

DS started walking on his 1st birthday and had it mastered a week later. No issues with walking since then. He started running a month ago.

The past couple of days he's been crawling randomly. He does it in this huge exaggerated fashion (big motions with hard slaps on the floor)

Toddler thing?

Yep. DD does this and announces "I craw'ing!" and asks us to "c'mon!" and crawl too.

She's also working on skipping which is the goofiest thing ever.

He's 16mo...he's never attempted to imitate anything before...

My 17 month old likes to crawl sometime, too. Usually on the floor at the hospitals. *shudder*

18mo DS does that, usually pretending to be a dog. Sometimes he'll also do it after we hang around younger (crawling) babies. One time he decided he only wanted to crawl when we were at the mall. I still don't know what that's all about, maybe his legs were tired after going up & down the stairs & escalators 300000 times (because that, of course, is the whole purpose of going to the mall!)

After watching a few times I'm starting to think it's because he can get a good "slap" noise with his hands that his feet just can't do.

It's a rule of toddlerhood that the best way to get places is the way that makes your favorite noise.
