We need a bit of support...

I have a beautiful 10 month old daughter who has always co-slept with me. I love being close to her at night, but recently moved her to a mattress beside our bed because my husband was running out of space. I spend most of the night in her bed rather than my own because she seems to sleep best that way. The situation is great, but she is still waking every 1-2 hours to nurse and often spends a half hour or so tossing and turning, not even wanting to nurse. She just seems unable to get comfortable. I don't have any co-sleeping friends, and one "friend" who suggested Babywise to me-yikes! She said my baby would be "sharper" and would learn better if I forced her to sleep alone. I don't agree, but my confidence is starting to falter. So, I'm just wondering if we are on the right track, or have I wronged my baby in some way? I just want what's best for her.

You are not wronging your baby. You are responding to her normal, human needs. Human babies are wired to wake up many times per night. It is normal.
Here are a couple of links that I found to be helpful when I was struggling w/being overwhelmed by DS's frequent wakings:

Sleeping Through the Night

Is your baby sleeping through the night yet?

Hang in there, keep following your baby's cues and try to ignore all those "Babywisers."

Sharper??? my 18mo DS has co-slept with me since birth (and still naps in my nap every day too!) and he is plenty 'sharp' - he is quite develomentally advanced in fact. You are not wronging your baby. Your baby is learning to sleep & learning to trust you & trust sleep etc. Also my DS did an especially lot of tossing & turning around 9-10mos, I believe because he was trying to learn to do things in his sleep like crawl, walk, etc. and it was a huge developmental period for him. He has never slept super well but he is finally doing 3-5 hour stretches now & it's great. I would try very hard to ignore the babywise guys!!
