Doll skin

Anyone know a good source for the heaviest, smoothiest interlock for doll skin? I've made a few Waldorf dolls from kits now and the skin fabric has been quite variable. I really like the thicker stuff that I got a few years ago from Dancing Rain Dolls, but it's not in stock on the website. The kits I made from Weir dolls and Magic Cabin had a lighter weight fabric that was okay but stuffed lumpier. Thanks,

You can order the DSD type skin tone knit directly from the source-

I plan to place an order, but I'm kind of confused about what color(s) to order. Should I go for the ones that actually say skin/light skin, or peach/beige? Any input would be great!

aac96 -- I've used what looks like skin, light skin, salmon, dark brown, light brown, and red-brown for various dolls.

E.V -- Thanks, I didn't know you could order from them directly.

T102, T114 and T115 are all the Caucasian types of skin tones- they are all lovely but the T115 is perfect for babies. T106 is a beautiful shade, for AA and dolls of color. T105 is a cocoa color, but it's a bit gray or ashen for my taste. HTH

Thanks! I just put in a request for an order. Do you know how long it normally takes them to respond? I'm not in any rush, but just curious!

She actually got back to me right away, so now I'm trying to decide if it is worth paying the shipping for 3 meters of fabric. It would cost around $75 with shipping. Any thoughts? How many dolls could I make with 3 meters of fabric? I plan to do a mix of 10 inch to 16 inch dolls. I'm not planning to sell any. Maybe just some as gifts, so do you think the price is worth it? Or should I just go with Weir Crafts doll skin? Is there a huge difference between the two? I've only tried the stuff from Weir, so I don't know what I'm missing!

Here's some for a bit less-

I have used the knit from Weir and it is fine- not the uber thick stuff you were looking for in your OP, though. It's actually better for smaller dolls, since it is thinner, you can turn the thumbs with ease and the eyeline does not get lost. I think the Dewitte fabric is the best for larger dolls, dolls with noses and button jointed dolls where the fabric has to take a lot of wear and stress.

Does this website still exist?  I'm having trouble accessing it and I too am now looking for that thick doll skin.

The web site seems to change address frequently.

You should be able to make 6 - 8 dolls if you cut carefully winky.gif  There are North American suppliers that also sell De Witte Doll skin as well, maybe the shipping would be cheaper?

Shipping will be cheaper but the price of the fabric would be double.
