Oh nuts, I think I need name help - Page 2

that's so funny. dh is also a coach (track and cross country) and has eliminated some names because he has negative associations due to past (or present) athletes he isn't/wasn't too fond of.

one of the names we are considering, however, is quinn (he has an current athlete named quinn and she's a great kid). are you sure you don't like it for a first name?

if you are sticking with quinn for a middle name, i think it is best paired with a three syllable first name (a couple i've noticed mentioned that i like are rebecca and abigail). i also love the name amelia (our daughter's middle name).

If you change your mind about Rachel, what about Rachelle (Ra-shell)? My sister's middle name!

ETA: Oh, and it has the double LL!

Quinn was actually the first name that we came up with. Our problem came when pairing it with the middle name. One of the kids in his class (sigh.....see a trend here?) pointed out that it sounded like queen and what middle name would you use - Quinn Mary, Quinn Elizabeth. I couldn't get over it then, just one of those stupid things I guess. However, what we really liked about Rachel was the fact that her initials could be RQR, and for some reason I found that very neat. So odd the things that we think about names.

Rachelle is quite pretty too and might have to be discussed.

hmm, i never even considered the "queen" thing. i'll have to think about that.

the reason i really liked quinn is because we all have one syllable names and i wanted to keep that trend going, but there aren't that many one syllable girls' names that i like.

i like the rqr too.

What's wrong with Athena, Ares or Thor? Those are a goddess and gods. Lots of people are named after goddesses and gods.

Another Rachel here with a biased vote for the name. But DH and I are both teachers, so I completely understand how hard it is to get over a name association with a student. We crossed several perfectly beautiful names off our list because they reminded us of past students. I love Quinn as a middle name. You could change the spelling (Rachael, Rachelle) if you've got your heart set on the name.

Since you seem to like a name that's classic and biblical, there are lots to choose from.

Naomi Quinn
Sarah Quinn
Rebeccah Quinn
Delilah Quinn
Abigail Quinn

Good luck!
