Do you mean "Ezra" and not "Erza"?

I like your name pics - I especially like Paige and Gabriel.

Great names! I don't care for Paige and Delilah as much as your other girl names. Hannah and Ella are up there on my list (though Hannah is super popular so I won't be using it, but I adore it!).

I have a Gabriel and one with a middle name of Samuel - love both! And I like Dean a lot, too.

Hannah IS super popular. Its a nice name, but DD just started Kindergarten and out of the four Kindergarten classes in her school, there are 4 Hannahs (theres about 15 kids in each class so a ratio of 1 in 15 kids named Hannah in her grade)

Delilah may become super annoying for her when shes older and creepy old men (aka men old enough to be her father) start singing Hey There Delilah to her (having a song name SUCKS. There are at least two songs with my first name prominent in them.)

Ella itself isn't so bad but is one of the nicknames that women who name their children Isabella (the #1 name last year) are giving their daughters to make them different from all of the other Isabellas

Emily I like, even if its in the top 10 its not one I overhear anymore (did back when I was in school! But now its a bit less common)

Paige is a great name!

I like all of your boy names though Im a bit partial to Gabriel or Ezra because I know little boys with those names (one of each) and they are just the cutest things!

I think I agree about the OPs about Hannah and Ella being really popular right now. But if popularity isnt a factor into your naming preferences, theyre both really beautiful little girl names. Delilah is a great name as well, but I think the song connotation kind of kills it for me. I'd say Paige is my favorite on your list...as its a known name but not super popular right now. You could always use one of your other names as a middle name for Paige. (Paige Delilah? Paige Emily?)

Im rather fond of all of the names on your boys list. Gabriel didnt make our cut because we thought it might be too popular (though its really not blaringly popular in our area). I love the name Dean, but I just couldnt get over the school connotation of it because we referred to our highschool deans as "Dean Lastname". Ezra and Samuel are great names. I like them both, and think they would grow well with a child, fitting a grown man as well. Plus they compliment eachother well. (Samuel Ezra? Ezra Samuel?)

Girls

Hannah
Ella
Paige
Emily
Delilah

With the exception of Paige and Delilah, these names are all super-popular. Depending on the state, Ella is a top-10 name on it's own--not to mention all the nicknamed Ellas. It is lovely, though...Hannah and Emily, too. If you don't mind the popularity, you could go for it. My favorite on this list is Ella. I like Paige a lot too, but sounds-wise I like Ella better. Delilah reminds me of the call-in radio show, and I always hear "De-liiiiii-laaaaaaah" when I see it. It's a pretty name, but I can't get away from the radio association. Lilah, maybe? Lilian?

Boys

Gabriel
Dean
Erza
Samuel

I like all of these names, in this order: Ezra (by a long shot), Gabriel, Samuel, and Dean. Ezra is fantastic. Love it, love it, love it.

If I were picking from your list, I would pick Paige and/or Ezra

Gabriel however fell off our list because DH pointed out people would call him Gabe. Same with Jacob - I like Jacob, but no no no likey Jake. People totally butcher names!!! I know a little Ella and my cousin is a Hannah.
I have the TOUGHEST time finding a boy name. I love Will (wilhelm) and Leo (Leopold), they are perfectly normal names back home, but I guess a tad too exotic in the US... It's a nightmare to find a good name!

I would not think of either of those as exotic in the US... and Ive lived in two totally different sections of the US! (the rural midwest and the semi-urban southeast)

Me too...Will and Leo seem like very normal names.

...As for Gabriel and Jacob, you don't have to shorten them. We have a name among our children that is most often shortened, and we didn't. Surprisingly, most people (like 99% of people) respected that and called him by his full name. After a while, people saw that name as "fitting" him, and couldn't imagine him as anything else.

I have a Gabriel, and while some people insist on calling him Gabe, it's not the majority by far. I actually picked it because I liked the nickname, but we virtually NEVER call him that!

I also think Will and Leo are great names! Neither is super popular, neither is unheard of, and if you like the nicknames for names that are meaningful to you, then I think they're perfect!

Thanks ladies for the reassurance... DH said Leopold sounds aristocratic, so I was a little thrown off... But I love love Leo, but as a name in the passport I would want a full name, kwim?

To the OP: I have an easier time with girl's names. I don't care too much about popularity, as long as nobody else in the family has the same name. We do care for traditional names though. As for girls, our favorite (and I don't care if anyone uses it on here, I don't know you personally!) is Eloise, we really love it. We also like Charlotte, Penelope (Penny) and Emilia.

LMAO all I can think of is... Eloise... Charlottes Web... Penelope (an awesome movie).... and Amilia Bedelia (different spelling, same pronunciation)...

All books or movies I have enjoyed in my life!

Not a negative connection at all!

I love Hannah, but my DH vetoed it. All of the girls names on your list are great! Since you like Delilah, would you consider Lilah also?

Of the boys names, my favorites are Samuel and Gabriel.

We like to choose based on the meaning of the names:

Girl Names
Hannah - favor, grace. In the Bible, the mother of the prophet Samuel.
Ella - beautiful fairy. Diminutive of Eleanor and Ellen.
Paige - attendant. It is a gender neutral name.
Emily - industrious. Feminine form of Emilo
Delilah - languishing, temptress. In the Bible, Delilah (Judges 16) is a temptress and rather deceitful.

Boy names
Gabriel - Man of God, God's able-bodied one. From the angel Gabriel in the Bible.
Dean - valley. Initially a surname.
Ezra - help, helper. Biblical Jewish Priest and scholar.
Samuel - asked of God. A righteous Biblical Prophet.

I hope this helps you decide
