Need Quick Advice..Not Sure If This Is Serious

My husband was moving some things outside and after a while said his finger was stiff. Then his hands got stiff and his eyes below his eyebrows and below his eyes are red. It's been about 3 hours and his hands aren't stiff anymore but his eyes are still red and his finger is a little purple. Could this be serious?

Thanks

Sorry, I don't know. Can you call a 24 hr nurse hotline?

I called the local 24 hour clinic but they wouldn't give info over the phone. I will see if my insurance has a number. He thinks it might be a spider bite (maybe brown recluse or black widow), but we can't find a puncture wound at all, and other than the red around his eyes and the sweeling/purplish finger he is fine. I was thinking of starting him on sodium ascorbate till tolerance as a precaution.

What type of stuff was he moving? It sounds like an allergic reaction, especially the red around his eyes.

purple finger sounds urgent. I do not use mds at all, but would in this case. An urgent care or emergency room may know what caused it. Or you can try the wait and see approach, looking up spider bite symptoms, allergic reactions to mold, asbestos or anything else you think may have been in the stuff he moved or its location. I would think a spider would leave a puncture wound, but perhaps swelling or calloused hands hides it

Thanks for the replies. I called posion control last night and they said it doesn't sound like a spider bite, and too keep it cleaned (using tea tree oil). I gave him some benadryl and lots of vitamin c and the red eyes went away. This morning it's not as purple but still a little, and still a little swollen. Otherwise hes says he is fine. I am keeping him on a high dose of vitamin c and trying to get arnica, and apis into him. I really appreciate the help.

Forgot to say that he was moving all sorts of stuff yesterday, but noticed after moving a brass headboard that has been sitting on the side of our house for months.
