I don't know why I find this so difficult but I've been searching for a cute funky dress pattern to make a dress for dds' birthday coming up in a month and I'm finding nothing. Last year's dress was a big hit but I can't find anything I like very much. Any suggestions? They're going to be 5 and wear a 6.

Thanks for the ideas. The knit dress looks simple and comfortable enough to make for every day -- I'll have to try it. And the McCall's 606 is kind of what I was thinking of for the birthday. Grandma showed up yesterday with a fancy new dress for each that she bought traveling, so maybe I'm off the hook; though I do like making their special things. Thanks again/
