The Last Airbender for a toddler?

I've been watching the anime's from library DVDs, and am considering taking the family to the movie this weekend. DS is 3 and was uncomfortable with violent movies before.

I know I've read some of the concerns about the TLA casting, and I know what the reviews say.

Should we wait until we have family to babysit, or see it all together?

We haven't seen the movie (altho DS loves the anime), but after reading this review I'd be worried about him being bored adn squirmy:

My 2 yo loves the show, but was bored out of her mind about the movie.

My 3yo ds is completely in love with that anime. He's also very sensitive to violence (Lion King is a no go, nor Dalmatians, nor anything with really 'evil' people).

As for the movie, not so sure. Ds loves action, of which there is tons of in the anime series. How is your toddler with the tv series?

My lad came in while I was watching the finale, and he did fine with that. We don't own the series, so we've been picking up DVDs from the library, and mostly I watch them after he's gone to sleep.

DH preferred to wait until we're up with the family next weekend, so DS can stay with relatives while we go. I'm good with that.

the movie was really bad and nothing like the show i'd pass an wait for the video

My family is a fan of the tv series (we stream it from netflix for family movie time once a month) We all went to see the movie and although it was not the same as the series it was still a good story my 4 & 8 year old boys loved it.

It inspired a lot of talk about martial arts and doing hats right even when it is hard.

Kids do love anime but I think the toddler would be a bit too young especially since he is sensitive. There is also nightmares too that some children might experience although it is a cartoon/anime. I thnk the the older the child the better they will enjoy and understand these type of cartoons/anime.
