Grains or Cereals for Babies

I swear I think I know something and then I start thinking about it again and I completely forget! (Welcome to motherhood, I guess!) DD is 8 months and we have been doing pureed solids- just fruits and veggies. I thought I read somewhere that it was better to hold off on grains, cereals, etc. until later, but now I can't remember where I read that and can't seem to find it anywhere. Is this a TF theory?

If it is better to wait, just wondering why? (I seem to be waiting and not really knowing why at the moment!)

Thanks!

They dont produce the enzyme to digest grains until somewhere around 18 mos. At 11 mos, my guy has never had grains. Many people think i'm whacko, but if he cant digest them, i'd much rather he eat his beans or greens or whatever else we're eating.

Thank you! I was thinking it was something along those lines but I was beginning to think I was nuts! So basically, they don't gain any nutritional benefit from them until they have the enzymes to digest them, right?
