Baby is Not Kicking

I am about 18 weeks pregnant. For the last week and a half the baby has been kicking day in and day out constantly. My midwife came Monday and gave me a prenatal and it was hard to chase the baby down but when we finally got it under the Doppler the HB was 140. Everything was fine. After that day the movement slowed down a lot. Now I haven't felt a single twinge since the day before yesterday. I can't get in touch with my MW and I don't know what to do. I qualify for medicaid but I do not have it, I also have no insurance. MW prenatal care isn't really considered prenatal care where I live and I don't feel like dealing with the smart remarks at the hospital. There is a sliding scale clinic behind my house I can go to for prenatal checkups but I have to pay 260.00 for the first visit and I do not have that. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it something normal. With the others, once the kicks started, I don't remember them ever stopping for any significant amount of time.

happened for me with this baby... I have an anterior placenta and if she was aimed more towards the placenta than not, her movement would be very muffled and I wouldnt feel it at all.

I had sort of a C shape in my uterus where I could feel her though, so if she was turned towards my left or up or down and kicking I felt all the kicks just fine... but towards the front, right or back I wouldnt feel anything

That early, the movement can come and go. It's still nerve-wracking, though.

Can you try drinking some juice and lying on your left side to see if it gets your lo moving?

I'm sure all is well, like the pps said! I hope you can get in touch with your mw soon.

This! I had to wait so long to feel my LO move for the first time... and then I could only feel when he moved closer to my front. He drove me nuts the first month I was aware of his movements! Usually, just when I started to get really worried, that is when he would swim over and kick my butt for a little while.

Thanks everyone! Late yesterday I found the slightest little twitch near where my placenta is at the moment so I am assuming she was just in a strange position and muffled by it. Today baby is on the other side of my stomach and the kicks are back to normal. Thank goodness!

That's my first thought too, considering it was tricky to get the heart beat.

At 23 weeks, I don't feel consistent movement b/c of that "lovely" buffer.
Some days it's more than others, depending on his positioning and my attention.

Phew! What a relief. My baby's kicks were very inconsistent that early on too. They don't even recommend that you do kick counts until you're 28 weeks so you're still really early.
