My experience with thrush is that if it's causing you pain and discomfort, absolutely treat it. Both you and the baby. Do Diflucan (you need more than one pill to get rid of ductal thrush) and GV at the same time. If you're not bothered by it and your baby isn't either, you don't *have* to treat it.
Ds1 and I passed it back and forth for months. What finally got rid of it for us was Canestan cream slathered on my nipples and wiped off before baby nursed (just gently wiped, not scrubbed off). APNO really helps too (same principle, just slather nipples and areola after every nursing). I also started taking a daily probiotic and mixed a lactose/gluten free version with BM to paint my nipples with before nursing babe.
It can become a huge PITA for some mothers, but for most, it's just persistant and difficult to get rid of.
