What other than pregnancy can cause continued high temps post-O?

I have a complicated situation. More on that in this thread: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...7#post15779317.

I'm on day 12 post-O and my temps are still up. My luteal phases are always 10 days. It seems unlikely that I'm pregnant (negative test yesterday, but that was a cheapie that may not have tested positive even if I am) because of my situation discussed in the thread above. I'm trying to figure out what ELSE could cause my temp to stay high.

I'd really appreciate any and all feedback.

Thanks.

Are you very sure about your O date? If off maybe your not really late.

oh gee.... I just skimmed the other thread. I'd definitely go to doctor get things checked out. High temp could also be body fighting infection.

Based on my chart it seems like my O could have been earlier but not really later.

Several people have commented about the temp being an infection-fighting thing. I've never heard of that at such a low temp, though. Do you know of anywhere on-line with more information?

Have you spoken to the doctor about the possibility of retained products of conception? If you haven't properly passed all the pieces from the miscarriage, you could potentially have a uterine infection. Temps don't necessarily have to be markedly raised when there is an infection. Is there any smell to the lochia?

Also, stress can cause your menstrual cycle to vary in length, especially with the amount of stress I'm sure you've been under. My cycle is usually 30 days on the mark and this past cycle it was 41 with continually elevated temps and a luteal phase of 19 days but no positive pregnancy test. I was in my last semester of nursing school and under horrific stress, so everything was off (ovulation, etc.)

I would definitely at least call your doctor and raise the question of a possible infection. Better to err on the side of caution.

I just read on ttc.com that rarely a corpus luteum cyst (a type of ovarian cyst) can cause elevated temps without conception, and can also cause bleeding. According to the wiki on ovarian cysts in general, 95% of them are benign, but it may be worth a call to your doctor.

Good luck, and I hope this resolves itself with no complications!
