DH & I are stuck on names... any thoughts?

Hi Mamas,

We are expecting our first in early December. We don't know if it's a girl or boy. Right now, I am working on a girl's name. Our last name starts with "J" and DH really wants a first name to start with J too. The only one I kind of like is Jayden (although not sure how I'd spell it... maybe Jaedyn). The middle name is going to be Ann. I really like the name Adelyn. What do you think?

Jaedyn Ann J.
Adelyn Ann J.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

I really don't like Jaedyn, myself. I like Adelyn, though! And I think Adelyn Ann sounds great together.

I agree!

One of my favorite names is Justine. I think the meaning is lovely, and it's a name that isn't heard very often anymore.

Jaedyn falls into the extremely over-used aiden names.

And in my mind, if I heard the name without seeing spelling... would automatically assume she were a boy. (especially seeing as that is Britney Spears sons name)

I agree with the PPs about Jaedyn. I don't care for it either. I don't tend to care for names that look made up and creatively spelled.

Here are some other 'J' names that I like:

Josie Ann
Juliette Ann
Jewel Ann
Jolie Ann

ooh...YES on the Juliet or Juliette. Lovely name.

Another vote for Jaedyn being overused (sorry!) Adelyn is nice.

I really like Adelyn. I have a DS named Jayden, and I agree with it being overused (for both sexes) - but I still think it's a nice name. I just think for a girl, Adelyn is really pretty.

For J with Ann for the middle, I like Jessica.

I didn't expect such strong reactions to Jaeyden. What do you think of the name Jaydra?

How about Adelle.
I agree that "--aiden" names are overused.
What about Janelle?

A
Adeline
Adelaide (I love this name)

J
Jessamine/Jesamyn
Jasmine
Jennifer (three of my closest female friends are named Jennifer, but I have yet to hear of ONE in my kids' generation)
Jade, which I like better than Jaden or any spelling variants thereof
Jae (it's Korean)
I know a Jaella, but I am also not a fan of made-up names or "trendy contemporary" names.
Jaqueline
Janet/Jeanette
Jonquil
Jacinta (yah-sin-tah, spanish word for hyacinth)
I also know a woman named Jeneve.
Juniper
Juno
June

G that sounds like J
Genevieve
Geneva
Georgia
Gianna
Giudetta

If you like the -dra sound, Phaedra is a minor character in Greek mythology.

Jaydra is pretty and unique! Is Adelyn pronounces Ade-lynn or Ah-duh-lynn?
I like it either way! I'm not crazy about Jaedyn or "aiden" names either

Ann is a lovely middle name. Jaedyn is too common IMO. I love the name Jolie.

jaydra is pretty.

I would have to agree with pp about jaedyn being really over used and I would think boy too... but this is coming from a mom who's son is named Ainsley ( found it in a baby book under boy and it a traditional scottish name, never heard a girl with the name ever before. where we used to live there is a girl born the same day as him with the same name... )

Back away from the "ayden" names.. they are much over used at this point.
I like Adelyn.

ITA with the other ladies, the -ayden names are way overused. What kinds of names do you like? Is Ann an absolute middle name?

I love J names for girls.

What about:
Jocelyn
Janelle
Jada/Jade
June
Jessamyn
