Fall 2010 student mamas -- how was your first week of class? - Page 2

First 2 weeks went great. Week 3 ~ honeymoon period over. Reality has set in... or I just realized I can only go so long w/o sleep. Whichever it maybe... Thankfully, I'm enjoying my class more than I thought I would. I am struggling with adjusting to distance learning though I think that will just sort itself out.

My first week went well; two of my courses are late-start, so I haven't begun those yet. I really love the instructor for my nurse's assistant class. She's funny, and I know it's going to be a fun semester. My Biomedical ethics course seems pretty heavy - but interesting. I just can't let myself fall behind on the reading (ahem, I should be doing that now instead of being here on MDC).

My first 2 days went well.. I am super excited about my major and my course load is totally doable. I am freaking out a little though because I've passed out after school both days- I'm so tired! DH goes to work as soon as I get home, so I've got my 3yo and 1yo needing mama, then have to make dinner, then bed. I'm a little scared I'm not going to get all my studying and writing in! Of course I also have to figure out a way to not pass out in the afternoon (I normally do not nap, i hate napping!)

Wow, my classes don't start until the end of this month. I am kinda itching to get going though, they way I get more of a break for the holiday season.

This week was my first week for fall classes. I am going M, T, R 6pm-9pm. It was rough the first two nights. The first night we let the kids stay up late so I could put them down when I got home, but they were way too tired for that and were grouchy. So Tuesday night DH put them down. I just about cried when I came home to a quiet dark house. Felt like I had missed out Then last night things started to just kind of "click".

I am taking Anatomy and Physiology (and lab) and Statistics. They are all really awesome classes and all three teachers have kids and/or had little kids in their college years. That makes me feel a little more comfortable that they will be more understanding.

Overall, week 1 was pretty good

I completed my first week, and I am totally OK with this semester! I was really nervous, but think it's totally doable this semester!

Got an A on my first "test" in Sign Language 2! So that perked me up a bit.

I have two papers due that I'm nervous about. For some reason I have complete writers block.

I start on Tuesday with 4.5 hours of classes. I am stressing a bit because DD2 is still not in the habit of being away from me and I have to leave my business and five employees to fend for themselves at this time of year when schedules and things are really fluid and some direction will be needed.

But the course material should be interesting and is directly related to my field of work. I just keep reminding myself that sucessful completion of this semester will directly translate into more money in our government operating grant, indefinitely. It's a very tangible reward at the end of the tunnel, so I hope that will give me strength when I have to leave my crying 2.5 year old.

I am in my student teaching internship semester so I have been very busy in the classroom and at home, studying for upcoming exams, and working on assignments that are required for my student teaching portfolio. I have been in the classroom three weeks already and of course, I already got sick once and my little one got sick as well. It's been super hectic and busy!

IT WAS AWFUL!!!! AWFUL, I tell you!

Class (online) started on the 30th, which is the day I packed up my family and moved 1,000 miles. We were four days into class before I could even get online, and by then I had already missed assignments!! So now I'm struggling to get moving and totally feel like I've started out on the wrong foot.

In the classes I'm teaching, everything started off great. I prepped those classes way in advance, and everything is going smoothly. They're all online.

Sparklett

Well tonight in my reading & writing in ECE class, I could not for the life of me remember what an adverb is. I officially feel old now and lame now and like this might all be harder than I though it was going to be. I've just forgotten so much stuff in such a short time!

Where you able to tell your teacher what happened? Most of the time they would be pretty understanding (as I am sure you are as a teacher).
