Section 8 bedroom sharing rules?

I'm trying to get on Section 8, however, the waiting list is about a hundred miles long. When/if I ever do get on the list, what will be the rules regarding sharing bedrooms? I'm a single Mother, my son is 15, and my baby (due in January) will be a baby boy. I keep getting conflicting answers from friends and the Section 8 office won't give me any real information until I'm actually on Section 8. Will I be allowed to share a room with the baby? If so, how long? I'm told that a year or three years, but with it being a boy, possibly not at all. Will my son be forced to share a room with the baby, since they're same-sex siblings, or will they take the 15 year age difference into consideration? I keep hearing that they'll require all same sex siblings to share rooms, regardless of age. Or will we be forced to find a three bedroom apartment (no easy task in this area)? I also keep hearing that because of the ages and sex of each person in my household, we may be required to all have separate bedrooms. If the baby's forced to have his own room, I can deal with that (who's to know the baby will actually be sleeping with me at night?), but I'm appalled at the thought of a teenager being expected to share a room with an infant. Besides the obvious danger points (baby proofing a teen's room and keeping it that way?!), teenagers need their privacy and babies need their parents. Anyone know the rules and regulations? I'm in NY, if that matters.

We got on section 8 five years ago, in Ohio. Our family included me & DH, 7yo DSD, and DSs 14yo, 13yo, 11yo, and 5mo. We qualified for a four bedroom house/apartment. We found a 4BR with a finished family room in the basement and have always used that as another bedroom. I don't think they care about who's sleeping in what room. I think with an infant and a teenager, you'd get a 3BR, but they aren't going to care if the baby sleeps in your room and you use the extra bedroom for a study or whatever. At least where I live, that's how it works.
