natural depression relief

Thread Starter
Looking for suggestions on natural depression relief. Went off of antidepressants for mild depression in order to get pregnant. Got pregnant before we meant to, and ended up miscarrying. That was about 2 months ago. Now I have no energy, no motivation, and am, um, unpleasant to be around, to put it mildly! I don't know if it's hormones still coursing through me, or if I'm just bitchy. The miscarriage didn't really affect me too too much since it was new to me that I was pg. I have an appt. with my doc., but I don't want to go on antidepressants again for a bit, and she's kind of pro-med. My son is starting school next week, I'll be working out again and have more "me" time which should help. But, I'd like to know other suggestions to help keep my mood in check.
Thanks!

I had a miscarriage 4 months ago. It was a "surprise" pregnancy but that doesn't make the loss hurt any less. I know what you are going through.

Find a copy of "The Mood Cure". This book has so much information on treating depression and other mood disorders naturally.

I've had a lot of luck with fish oil. I take Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA. I adjust the # of pills as needed. Two a day usually get me through the worse depressions and the winter. One a day works the rest of the time.

Good luck!

The working out piece should help a good deal. I've used 5HTP in the past with really nice results; but like St. John's Wort, the jury is out in terms of safety for pregnancy and breastfeeding. For me, what really changed my long term depression and anxiety was some major diet changes (namely removing gluten and corn from my diet - corn having the biggest impact on my mental health). Getting more omegas and healthy fats should help too!

I'd suggest a B vitamin supplement.

As my opinion that depression is really harmful for every one so you must be take care about this thing, Think always positive , do not take alcohol, Take always healthy food like fruits, vegetables. And one more thing just think about your future , don't think your past or negative.
