Speedy GI recovery ideas?

This seems like a silly question, but bear with me please. Today I have either food poisoning or a nasty stomach flu. Right now I'm at the point of having one sip of water every 15-20 min to make sure it stays down. I haven't vomitted/had diarrhea in about 3 hours. So, as I am able to drink more and more water I was thinking about what to move onto next. My mom would have given me 7up (none in the house right now) and toast, and then rice. But, maybe my mom didn't know everything! So, how do you treat GI troubles?

oh, also this is my 2nd time in about a month to have something like this! Any thoughts on how to avoid it in the future would be greatly appreciated!

Culturelle (widely available probiotic from CVS, Walmart, etc) and coconut water, bone broth, baked sweet potato (why I dunno, just always easy to digest for us).

Thanks! I didn't think about the sweet potato - I have one of those. Dh took the kiddos to his parents' house for the weekend and I'm in no shape to drive anywhere, but maybe I'll see if he can pick up some Culturelle on his way home tomorrow. I have a probiotic from the hfs here, but it's a chewable orange cream flavor. I can't imagine choking that down right now.

When I have a bad stomach problem going on I will take a good probiotic every hour or two until the symptoms are much better. So that's a lot of probiotics, buit in a situation like that it's ok.

Honestly, I wouldn't even eat for the rest of the day. I'd just sleep a lot, sip water and ginger ale, and maybe some broth. I just like to let my tummy rest on days like that and wait for a good long while before eating again.

Thanks! Maybe I'll see if I can get some probiotics down tonight. I've managed to eat about 1/3 of a banana so far. Before the banana I hadn't eaten anything since about 11pm last night. I don't do well not eating, just skipping a meal or snack on a normal day makes me feel like I'm going to pass out. Since I'm home alone until tomorrow night, I do want to get some calories.
