Whole Foods prenatal WITHOUT vit k?

I'm taking baby aspirin for a suspected blood clotting disorder. Last night I was getting ready for bed and was reading the back of the Rainbow Light One prenatals that I take and they have Vitamin K in it which totally negates the aspirin!

This really annoys me for some reason - I'm already on edge trying to hold onto this pregnancy and to find out that I could be actually harming it annoys the heck out of me.

So - are there any whole food vits without vitamin K?

I have not been able to take my prenatals lately due to m/s, so instead I take a chewable adult vitamin and it does not have vitamin K. It doesn't have as high levels of the other stuff as the prenatal, but it does have some iron, folic acid, etc. 100% daily value of most things.

It's the Trader Joe "High Potency Chewable." I know their prenatal vitamins are made by Rainbow Light, so perhaps this one is too?? I am not sure.

Could you take some of the separate vitamins rather than 1 vitamin?

I take 1/2 dose of prenatal (it's 2 pills a day, I only take 1) and then take a separate iron that is non-constipating. I also take separate calcium/mag/vit D and take b-6 to help because I still have morning sickness a bit. My midwife said not to bother with a prescription or finding a specific prenatal prenatal, I guess she felt I was getting enough in other places. They even told me to take a regular multivitamin because I was so sick in the beginning (still am sick at 21 weeks)

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I also have a blood clotting disorder (Factor V Leiden), and I take Rainbow Light. But, I take 1/3 of a vitamin because I take the Petite form and I only take one a day. I took a whole one until 16 weeks, then I took 1/2 for a while then 1/3.
There is only 65 mcg in the full serving, which isn't excessive. And, if you are really worried about vit. K, you shouldn't be eating any green vegetables either! My dad is on warfarin and he cannot eat spinach, kale, celery, peppers, lettuce, etc. I eat stuff like that all the time.
I don't take aspirin, but I do drink red grape juice almost every day for the same reason. Another way to think about the vitamins is--"good thing I'm taking the aspirin, it might negate the vit. K"!
Also, I have had 2 extra ultrasounds due to the condition, and my placenta, cord etc are functioning very well; I imagine yours are as well.
If it bothers you, just take 1/2 or 1/3 of a pill. There's way more of everything than you really need in a whole dose anyway.
Are you going to have your baby injected with vit. K at birth? That is something I really haven't figured out.

Taffy - funny you mention Factor V, that is one I have been tested for (results will be back this week). I haven't been eating any green veggies actually, for the vit k reason. The thing is, if I do have Factor V, I've been really symptomatic with 3 losses (known RPH and SCH in 2 of them that were the COD) so mainly I'm just really freaking out since this is a pregnancy after 3 losses and something is going on, but we aren't sure exactly what.

What I have been doing is taking the Costco adult gummy vites and then extra iron, folic acid and B6, Bcomplex.

As far as the vit k - unless there is bad bruising at birth, we won't be getting the vit k. We didn't get it for DD because she didn't have any bruising, but if there was excessive bruising, I'd be okay with a half dose or something.

Interesting about the vitamin K injection for the baby...that is what my pediatrician recommended, as well. So, I guess that's the way I'll go...I am heterozygous, so the baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having Factor V.

As far as you are concerned, maybe you are homozygous? That would explain the symptomatic nature of the problem. I haven't got any symptoms because only one gene is affected. So, it makes more sense for you to avoid vit. K, you are totally right. My dad who I mentioned is homozygous and has been hospitalized several times with clots.

Thanks very much for the baby advice...and look into the grape juice thing. 100% concord grape (no water etc added). My grandmother had Factor V, had seven healthy children, and drank red wine the whole time which has the same chemical compound to thin the blood (resveratrol). Garlic tablets also can work, and I have heard that fish tablets (which you are probably already taking for DHA) also thin the blood out somewhat. Anyway, with your losses I guess lovenox or similar would be warranted, not just natural "maybe" things like grape juice.

This is a really interesting thread!

I am hetero for Factor V as well...after 2 losses. My grandma and aunts have Factor V and my dad is hetero as well. My first pregnancy was totally normal and no complications at all. My OB never really mentioned anything extra I should be doing since it's only one gene affected. I had never heard that there might be different considerations to make regarding the vit. k shot. DD did get it..but this time we were planning to refuse.

Hey, dont know if you found a vitmain, this is a kinda old thread, but I just found the Rainbow Lights certified Organic prenatals do not have vitmain K.  You were taking the Rainbow Light One vitmains.
