Can we start a Lots to Lose Tribe here? - Page 3

I took the day off of exercising yesterday. I did manage to weigh myself this morning. 215 lbs. I should weigh around 145 for my height. Gearing up for the "official" start of my weight loss journey (September 9th).

Man, I need to get my head into this! Its easy to say you're going to do it, to know exactly what's needed to do it, but to actually DO IT, that's my problem. Add to it a toddler and a velcro baby (8 months) and only twenty minutes at a time for any thing in a day, ugh. Excuses excuses I know! Ok I will exercise today! That I can commit too. One day at a time. You ladies are certainly a dedicated lot! I admire the work many of you have already begun! Way to go!!

I'm In!

I am in. I need to loose about 100 pounds.
I would love inspiration!

I just did about 15-20 minutes of Ashtanga yoga (worked up a good sweat, too). I would've done more, but my 3 1/2 year old started hanging off me. I'm trying to get her to do some yoga, too. Maybe soon she'll join me instead of critiquing my technique.

Regarding Wii Fit, I just got it hooked up again after months of it sitting aside. I really haven't played with it much. However, I am using it to weigh myself, check my BMI, and set goals for myself.

Walked 2 1/2 miles this afternoon. Found a shelving unit at the side of the road, so I put it in the stroller and walked it home. It only required one minor fix and now it's in perfect condition! It even matches my dining room table perfectly.

Checking in! I started Phase 1 of South Beach today and so far so good. I did a massive cabinet purge and all the junk is gone, gone, gone. Planning on going walking later today, I meant to go this morning but had some last minute errands to run. Over the weekend I hopped on the scale to get an official starting weight and was horrified to learn I weigh quite a bit more than I did just a couple months ago. Trying not to dwell on it too much and get me down though. I've got a plan and I've got a goal and I'm focusing on that instead!

Newbie :)

Can I join in? I need to loose before I can get pregnant again - and I have the baby bug again! I am walking an hour a day, and doing one of the classes at the gym once a day as well. I figure 2 hours a day should be good start.

For those of you that have Wii fits - do you find them useful for weight loss? I am contemplating getting one - any thoughts.

Thanks for letting me share on this journey with you mamas!

mandms, I hear you about it being hard to start. With two little ones it WILL be hard for you to get in the exercise, find time to make healthy food, etc. It’s not just an excuse, it’s reality! For now you may need to take it one day at a time, one small change at a time, but you’ll still be on your way! You CAN do it. And, as your kidletts get older, it will get easier too.

Welcome earth2birth!!! Inspiration, support, comfort, commiseration, information! That is why we’re here! Just jump on in!

AtYourCervices, great job getting your exercise in, and thanks for pointing out another great benefit of walking...Freebees!! We saw a nice looking toaster, a couple couches, and a small table out on the curb last night while my dh and I were out walking. We decided we didn’t need them and left them for someone else, but it was still fun to “shop.”

Yay for taking the plunge, Siennaflower!! Another South Beacher too! If you haven’t noticed it yet, be prepared to have to pee every 30 minutes or so the first week! Oh, my goodness it is annoying, but it’s normal for a low carb diet, and it’s really nice to see the scale start to drop so dramatically right away. Now that I’m into my second week I’m not going to the bathroom nearly so much, but thankfully I’m still losing weight.

Welcome Omeed!!! Wow, two hours of working out a day! That’s awesome! Re: the WII Fit... I honestly don’t feel I got a great workout using my WII fit. I don’t think I got my heart rate up very high for an extended period of time. It seemed like there was too much time between exercises/games where I was just standing around fiddling with the controls. I haven’t tried the new version yet. It might be better at keeping you moving.

My diet is still going well still. I was able to get out and take a walk last night, which was pleasant, and didn’t seem to hurt my knees too much. I am a little concerned about the percentage of fat that I am eating right now. I’m eating less than the calorie amount the Daily Plate set for me, (It says I should be eating about 2500 calories a day to lose 2 pounds a week, but I’ve only been able to eat about 1900). But everyday about 50% of my calories are from fat! Since this very low carb phase of the SBD only lasts for 2 weeks, and since I don’t have cholesterol problems, I’m trying not to worry too much. But it is a little disconcerting for me because my past diets always tried to limit fat intake pretty severly. Of course, none of them worked for me either, so maybe the high fat is a good thing. We’ll see.

Keep working it, Tribe!!! We can do it!!!

Yesterday I took it rather easy, playing Wii Fit for half an hour. I did several of the aerobics games & yoga poses. BTW, there's nothing like the shoulderstand to show you how much fat you have to lose... literally. I had a roll of fat inches from my face.

Today I'm going to clean out the fridge and buy some healthy foods. Tomorrow is the "big day". I'll be getting serious about weight loss, and starting my blog.

Blogging is a good idea. I've started so many blogs that are just kind of hanging out there though.

Hey mamas! I'm heading offline for a few days to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. (Oy, am I having a hard time figuring out what to cook for dinner tonight. Most traditional Rosh Hashanah food is sweet.)

Have a wonderful rest of the week and keep up the good work! Here's a celebration for AtYourCervices big start day tomorrow, and anyone else that gets going while I'm away.

Remember to talk to each other, 'cause we can do this together! Cheers!

I finally got out to walk with dd2 in the stroller down to the library and back, about 2 miles total. Felt great, too. I stayed on plan for Phase 1, day 2 as far as eating. I'm down 4 pounds, probably mostly water weight but still, I'm happy about it. AF is just around the corner so I won't be weighing in again for about a week since I always retain water like crazy.

Dashsmama, I know what you meant about the constant potty breaks. I feel like I'm pg again lol.

AtYourCervices, a blog sounds like a great idea. I may look into that myself. Good luck tomorrow!

Today, I walked over 2 miles. Tomorrow is the big day. However, I'm preparing dinner for a friend. I told him he could pick whatever he wanted. He chose pork chops, green beans, mashed potatoes, applesauce, and apple pie. I'm a bit worried about the calorie content (especially that apple pie).

Yay for the walk. I only got my walk in, no exercise class. Just too tired. And there is a wonderful piece of swiss chocolate calling my name in the fridge...very hard to resist tonight. I have faith that if I can resist that, you can resist the apple pie tomorrow night!

This is SO me! Especially with a screamy velcro baby. When he's not on me I just want to get stuff done or rest.

Yep... it is my too... I don't mind the baby because I just wear her but I also have three tag-a-long kids for walks... which means that walking is on a slow pace that doesn't help much (we do it, but it just doesn't make a difference)... I would love to go on bike rides and DD is big enough to be pulled in the trailer now, but ds#2 is not ready to ride for long periods yet and the trailer can only hold two...

My only chance is swimming... I need to figure out how I can get away from the evening routine and I need to make it a routine again.. I'm planning on starting tonight...

I have to get back to going to the pool...
rode my bike yesterday - 5 miles with dd2 in the trailer, then 2 miles when I went after the bigger kids after school. My legs were tired last night, but don't seem too bad this morning.
Yeah my legs were aching yesterday and I have another blister, making the grand total 5! weeee...

I am still walking at least 3 miles during the week and 5 on Sat & Sunday. I loathe counting calories and just try to keep my portions healthy. Though, I can hardly ever make myself eat breakfast.

Is anyone else NOT weighing themselves? I am just going by my clothing and how I feel. I want to lose weight for health reasons and I feel like if i get stuck with worrying about numbers, i will get discouraged. Anyone else?
I ended up going out in the middle of the night. Walked about 3 miles. This afternoon I walked down to the river in the woods for some alone time/meditation. That was at least another 3 miles.

BettinaAuSucre, I actually like weighing myself because it is a strong motivator for me. But, I'm weird.

Dmitrizmom, wow, woman! You're inspiring!

paxye, I love swimming! Good luck getting to the pool!

AtYourCervices - thanks.

I'm so happy to have this group. No "exercise" per se for me today... but I have been going up and down the steps, sanding doors, painting walls and generally getting my office ready for our open house on Saturday morning. Tomorrow is going to be the crazy long day to finish everything we can.

I'm weighing myself on a somewhat regular basis, but trying not to obsess about the number and focus on the way clothes feel (I was so excited last week to get a pair of size 16 pants!). I'm also watching the measurements for loss on inches - I know that I've lost a couple inches around my waist.
