What art work is on your child's room walls? - Page 2

Dd has about 20 fish and turtles we made out of paper plates one day. A whole mess of foam butterflies, a Strawberry Shortcake poster, a painting and some butterflies her babysitter made her for her birthday, a giant Tinkerbell balloon from her last birthday flattened out and hung, two really cool paintings my sister did (of butterflies, obviously!). A few pictures she drew/painted, white Christmas lights all around the room and butterfly curtains that match her bedspread hung on the wall behind her bed.

It's cluttered and messy and she absolutely adores it. I want to take it all down, straighten it up and only put about 5 things back up. My anal retentive side HATES it. But she loves it, so it stays.

Ds has a few framed autographed posters/pictures with bands he has met. Two shelves with awards on them. A few pieces of art he made, a US map with tags on the places he's been and where he wants to go and a bulletin board with family photos.

My bedroom has one photo on the wall. I have no idea where they get their over decorating from.

Both DD and DS have a guardian angel that DH painted for each of them before they were born on their walls (though DS doesn't actually sleep in his room).

Right now, DS's room is pretty bare because he sleeps with either DH and me or DD.

DD has most of her own stuff on the walls. Including but not limited to paintings she made, craft work like needle point or quilting, and a part of one wall dedicated to clothing ideas that she is planning on making at some point.

The master bedroom has four paintings/drawings DH made, including a couple of artistic painting of your's truly that I'd rather outsiders not see.

We're working on getting DD's big girl room set up right now. I'm loving browsing through the wall decals on Etsy.

This is my current favorite.

I really like this one too.

There are so many different things.

On my son's wall, he has:

-A Basketball hoop
-2 Matted and Framed Pictures of His favorite animals from a Nat Geo Page (Lion and Tiger)
-A Big "E" I sewed out of cool fabric and stuffed
-TONS of Transformers decals
-A poster size frame of his own water color from when he was 2.
-A Baby picture of himself
-2 Pictures his Great, Great Grandpa painted a few months before he died. He's never met him (he died when *I* was only 8) but he's always had this close bond with him for some reason so the pictures were passed down to him and remain one of his favorite possessions.

My Daughter has:
A Big "E" I sewed and stuffed
-Her "What happened the month I was born" from the Hospital
-Her hand impression from when she was a baby
-A framed poster size picture that Elijah made for her when I was pregnant with her
-A shelf with all of her ceramics that my Grandma has made for her
-Tinkerbell decals
-Random word decals that mean things to her (nicknames, silly words, etc)
-A Cross stitching my sister in law made for her
-Random finger paintings on her closet door
-A wooden hanging with a poem about how much we love her
-Her fairy wings are hanging on a hook
-A Rugrats clock
and hanging from her light fixture in the middle is a Rainbow mobile we made last week!

I'm thinking of covering all the empty wall space with the closet full of boxes of lego kits that ds insists we save. It will be a lovely collage of Mars Mission, Power Miners, Space Police, and Atlantis themes. Maybe I will paint the room Mars Mission orange with Power Miner green...

cool thread Can't wait to read through it all for inspiration too. My DS has a mask he made on the wall, several paintings, postcards from around the world, photos,a painting I did when I was young(matted and framed), and some posters.

If she likes faeries/princesses, I would look for some fantasy artwork done by an unknown artist. A lot of them do faeries and some princesses too and it would either be generic or at least inspired by something not mainstream. I go to gaming conventions occasionally and there is always a huge art section set up. Here is an example (some may consider these too "adult" for a child's room, but an idea anyway) of a friend of a friend's artwork:

My dd (age 6) has a print similar to this and some flower decals on her wall - I just love the print and bought it while pregnant with dd (before I even knew I was having a daughter)

i went to the dollar store and got paint and canvases to paint pictures for my son's walls one has birds and a poem about birds. the other has a car, a plane, and a truck (he used to have curtains to match in our old house) but his art work has gone to the wayside. his room needs renovating. the boy with the bird paintings has decals of animals that my mom got (they're really nice ones that come right off) on the walls, dresser, toy box and a little parrot on his headboard. in all, nice room and the art work was probably under $20. oh! he also has a frame with pictures of me when i was pregnant with him that my husband put together for my bday before i had ds2. also, one wall is stripes! i want shelves for that wall too to put some of his stuff on (i have a framed scrapbook page i made of him to put on there and other little things he's been given.)

I love those! Those trees are similar to the mural I drew in DD2's room!

We have a homemade "no monsters" poster and some photos in cheap Ikea frames. Not a lot because it's a sleeping room, not a playroom. The playroom has DD1's own artwork taped up with packing tape.

I don't think that's what you were looking for, though.
