dairy, gluten and soy are out. what next?

DD has been very gassy and probably has reflux. I have had dairy out of my diet for 3 weeks, and gluten for 1 week. I thought we were onto something because about 2 days into the gluten-free, we had a couple day stretch of very peaceful, and no troublesome gas. Then now we've had two days of very gassy and uncomfortable. So I don't really know what to take out next. DP suggests oats (I've been eating gluten free oatmeal almost every morning). I'm wondering about decaf coffee?? I'm off of soy as well (I generally don't do well with soy myself).

Thoughts? I"m not really interested in doing a total elimination diet, but I guess I may consider it if I have to.

I can't tell from your signature - is your DK an April or July babe?

If July, is it possible that it's "just" newborn gas and not tied to diet at all? Are you taking probiotics at all? Gas-producing vegetables?

I eliminated chocolate and all gas/fussiness went away. It was devastating, but alternatively I was able to start on dairy again without any problems so at least I can eat ice cream

If your baby is a July baby then I agree with the pp that it might just be early baby gasiness. Cecilia certainly had a TON, though I attribute a lot of that to her multiple milks (we use donated breast milk to augment my supply). Giving her infant's probiotic helped a lot, as did manually tooting her (knees to belly, tummy time [not her favorite], massage). Now at almost 5 months she is way less gassy and better at getting what she does have out herself.

You might check into hidden sources of gluten. I recently had to replace my chap stick because I discovered it has gluten in it.

I agree about the hidden part...my daughter was allergic to milk, eggs, and casein and casein is in almost everything.
