Excited and nervous all at the same time...

I'm 37 weeks (tomorrow)... And I was given the all clear for birth a week ago (my MW will do 36 week HB's)... So, I've been frantically trying to get everything done around the house (cleaning, organizing, typical nesting stuff) for the past 2 days.

I'm starting to get nervous... What if I forgot something from my birth kit? What if I need it and it doesn't make it in time...? What if the baby comes labor day weekend when my MIL is out of town (our sitter for our other kids)...? And WHY did MIL plan to go out of town so close to my EDD when she knew was the support person for our children??

But then I'm getting excited too... Looking at my birth pool and really starting to see all of it coming together and actually happening... It's a little surreal (and I'm assuming that my birth will be that way too)... People at DH's work are starting to ask if the baby has come yet (which is hilarious because um, he wouldn't be there if the baby had come!).

Pointless post... This is my first home birth, my last baby and an HBA2C. I'm excited, nervous and scared all at the same time. It's all going to be amazing and I know this but wow it's suddenly SO close... I feel like it was just yesterday I was staring at the test going '... ummm... OK... Well...' at what was an unplanned, surprise pregnancy. Now I'm weeks away from meeting my baby and finding out if we've got a little girl or little boy (already have one of each, lol). I can't wait for my youngest (19 months) to meet her new sibling and embark on a new journey as a mom of THREE.

Ok rambling post over...

Don't worry too much about the birth kit. Your MW will bring the absolute essentials with her. I know how you feel, all geared up and ready to go. Hopefully your little one won't come too early, and wait until your MIL is back in town. Good luck!

Thanks... I don't know what my MW brings with her... I had to order everything from gloves to a syringe... I'm assuming she probably has a back up kit just in case. I've got everything but the oral vitamin K I wanted (I can't find a small amount of it... the smallest I found was 460 doses!) so we'll have to use injectible vit K if something indicates a need.

I'd rather the baby come before she leaves or that I'm at least in (noticeable) early labor before she leaves. If I'm in labor, she won't go.

I keep talking to the baby about coming out soon... I've been in pre/early labor for days (crampy, super strong BH with back pulsing, insane cervical discomfort) and am really really ready to get this show on the road... I'm dealing with high BP and the baby may be safer to come earlier than later.

Soon... Soon... !

I am so excited for you after reading your posts! Things will go perfectly, and if you don't have something you need you can always go out and get it (or rather, send someone for it).

Looking forward to hearing your birth story!
