Sidecar Acrobatics

Thread Starter
We just side-carred our crib this weekend, and I'm trying to figure out how on earth to get the baby and myself into bed without doing somersaults. DD is usually asleep in my arms before hitting the bed, so I have to manage to clamber in there without waking her up. Anyone with a sidecar, what's your secret?

No side car, but the bed is against the wall. I hold my little gy & walk up the bed on my knees. Works quite well.

Not much help here... I usually nurse DD to sleep while she's in the sidecar or in bed and slide her over. DH is the only one strong enough to move our 18lb DD once she's already asleep.

I'm supposing that the crib is up against the wall? I thought that I'd have the same problem if I did it that way, so we put the crib so that it's not up against the wall and I could place baby in that way. But, once we sidecarred, I started to nurse him down in the crib and I didn't have to worry.

But, like PP said, I just climb on the bed on my knees and knee it over to the crib if DS is asleep or I don't want to put him down.

Do most cribs have two rails? Mine doesn't, so I couldn't get in from the other side either.

OP, I knee-walk across the bed too. I pull all the bedclothes back before I bounce ds to sleep so I don't have to get bungled up in the blankets and wake him up. He is over 20 pounds, and in and out of the crib is kind of hell on my body.

Now that he has begun to escape my make-shift soft rail on the crib, I am going to UN-side car the crib and put the rail back on so that I can put it up for naps and early bedtime. I got a bed rail so that we can more easily share our queen when he comes to bed with us. I'm not sure dh will love this plan, but it's the best I've got. And, hey, he's the one who refused to get a king sized bed.
