I do the same thing. Coming home, dumping all the luggage, having to put it all away and get back to normal in a clean house is one thing, in a dirty house? Oh he!! no.

Cleaning before you go on vacation makes it so you don't have to get home from vacation and clean the house.

I've actually managed to make some progress:

- washed a load of dishes
- packed a week's of clothes for kids #2, 3, & 4
- packed a bag with the kids' bathing suits, towels and sunscreen

Now, back to work...

I'll jump in! I'm getting back into good habits as I'm getting some energy back...my challenge right now is finding the balance between keeping up with maintenance stuff and 'getting ahead' on organization/decluttering/deep cleaning type stuff.

Done so far:

Made breakfast (egg sandwiches)
All dishes done
Almost all kitchen countertops tidied/cleaned
Blocks/puzzles/reading time w/ DS19mo
Joined local cheapcycle and posted some stuff (this has been a procrastinated thing for weeks for me...)

To do:

Finsh kitchen counters (just one corner left to do ) DONE
Re-organize/inventory fridge freezer DONE
Tidy inside of fridge a bit DONE
Make sure dining table is clear for supper DONE
Sweep/scrub kitchen floor as needed DONE...for now, anyway!
Make supper (enchiladas tonight) DONE
Put away stuff (mostly clothes) on loveseat DONE

Any other maintenance as needed

Possibly to do:

Sort a couple piles on desk that need filing, etc.
Start culling DS clothes - yet again! - he seems to be outgrowing stuff at a massive rate these days...
Clear top of big dresser in bedroom DONE
Clear top of small dresser

I think I'll stop there - it's not as much as it looks - I tend to REALLY break things down - but I'm trying to stay realistic, too.

My mom always told me to clean before a vacation for two reasons. One you don't have to get to cleaning the very next day, you have have a couple of days to recover from your vacation. Two just in case something happens and someone needs to get things from your house they aren't walking into a complete mess. Makes life easier on your family if something were to happen (yea, I have a bit of a morbid family).

I have a TON of things to do! We had a typhoon earlier this week and spent two days almost trying to distract the girls from the heavy wind and rain so now of course my house is a disaster. Things I want to try to get done today:

-pick up hallway, sweep (how come my hallway seems to be a magnet for toys???)
- Do 4 loads of laundry, dry, fold and actually maybe put it away before it ends up becoming dress up clothes for the girls.- One load done.. 3 to go.
- find the library books that are like 2 months past due and have my hubby return them.. oops.

Done:
-Put away the dishes in the dishwasher and that have been air drying. Wash anything that needs to be washed.
- Wipe down the sinks/appliances in the kitchen
- clean fridge/microwave.
- Sweep kitchen.
- Finish going through baby/kids clothes. Seperate and put where they need to be.
- Sweep living room/dining room
I also managed to make dinner and put it in the crockpot so now I don't have to do much when its dinner time. Yea! I love crockpot meals.

That seems like a lot but my apartment is smaller so it really isn't. I have another list of things that need to get done if I get done with all of that.. We shall see..

LOL.

Or if your house is broken into. We've had one false alarm and having the officer go into our house and look around, all I could think about was, "thank goodness it is clean."

I need to:

fold and put away a load of laundry

kitchen/after dinner clean up/run dishwasher
done

toilets & tubs

vacuum, sweep, mop under dinner table
done

find a better spot for the stroller/rearrange closets
not perfect yet, but better

find a place to get rid of this professional wardrobe I'll never wear again
consignment shop? not yet taken

gather library materials that need to be returned
done

----------------tomorrow am---------------

pack lunch/snacks
done

go to recycling center
done

drop off library materials
done

not bad. you know what I should have written down? drop off clothes books in donation station. they were in the back of my truck and we had a thunderstorm tonight... now the books have to go to the recycling center and I have to bring the giveaway clothes back inside in order to wash and dry them and then PROMPTLY drop off! let that be a lesson to me!

We (DH,DS and I) went away for 4 days but my teenage DDs were both here to make mess, then when I came back I fell up the stairs and dislocated my finger, and the hospital actually put a plaster back slab and splint on my arm so I have been able to do nothing! Thank goodness it came off today and they told me to use my hand as much as possible.

So anyway my house is getting out of control after just one week of doing no cleaning!

However I am still pretty tired after all the dramas of the week, including the tragic loss of a young relative only 2 days ago, so I have not much energy to clean.

Today I am going to just try to do a little of whatever I can manage, not sure what...

Can I join??
Tonight, I'm going to finish folding all the laundry.

Tomorrow...
1. Put laundry away

2. Clean out refrigerator

3. Clean my office. The stacks of paper on my desk really overwhelm me, but I have to remind myself that when I get going, it all gets filed and organized pretty quickly. I want to start sewing again, so I need to clear some space!

I had a pretty decent day all things considered! I think I'll be back again tomorrow to do it again!
Well, I didn't get through my list, but I did get enough done that I'm pretty proud of myself. I'll definitely be back tomorrow for more!
I managed to get a few things done:

Vacuumed downstairs kitchen, hallway and living room
Mopped downstairs kitchen
Mopped upstairs kitchen
put 2 loads of washing on
put towels in dryer
cleaned all computer screens
planned dinner and prepared fish

Still have to hang out washing and dust the living room!
I'm just packing for my camping trip today, but I'd love support in the future (subbing so I don't forget)
Hung out the washing and DS came home covered in tomato sauce, so it prompted me to put a load of whites on to wash also.

Hmmm...I think, besides kithcen maintenance, I'm going to focus in the living room today:

Major tidy of floor Hmm...sort of - mostly done, but Chaos Child has done his job...it'll just be a quick tidy after bed, though
Clear flat spaces (decluttered these a few weeks ago; there's not much to do here) DONE
Declutter last two bookshelves DONE
Declutter top of shelves DONE
Tidy/vacuum seating

And if I get to it...

Declutter/tidy 'my' corner (craft/reading space)

Also:

Clean microwave
Call DS14 new school to schedule a tour - he was sick for orientation DONE
Take DS to school? (Depends on when they say to come) Nope!
Make supper

Oh yeah - take high chair out to storage shed. DS is using it as a climbing tool to cause large amounts of chaos now!! DONE

I think that's it for today...besides, possibly, a little bit of grocery shopping. I'm thinking reubens for supper, and we'll need rye bread - too hot here still to have the oven running that long!
Good morning everyone! I am completely exhausted, to the point that my eyes hurt. But I'm watching a friend's baby, so there was no option to go back to bed, though that would have been great!

So today....
About three loads of laundry(already have the first into the dryer and the second in the washer). Need to fold/put away. Done, plus two 'wash separately' items
Will later need to change and wash sheets from guest bed. Fold/put away. I guess I'm about to do this
Clean master bathroom.
Vacuum master bedroom and kitchen. I got the kitchen and living room done
Bake cookies. Dough is made Done
Bake banana bread. In the oven
Clean out foyer closet.
Shower! (lol) Done. See where my priorities are?

I still haven't picked up in the backyard, and it's driving me nuts! But it's something I really have to do first thing in the morning before it gets hot, and it just didn't work out again today. Maybe tomorrow? Or maybe I'll suck it up and do it today when the baby naps, even though it will be hot.

Really, there's a ton more that needs to be done, but I'm trying not to be totally unreasonable. Maybe I'll also pick up/vacuum the boys' bedroom. Their playroom has gotten out of control, so they've started to drag the mess into the bedroom and it's really annoying.

Update around 3pm: Not doing as well as I would like. Bah! My headache/eye hurting never really got better. I need more sleep. Badly.
9:30pm update: I never did find my groove. My eye hurts and I'm tired but DH won't make up his mind about something I need to do before I can go to bed. *sigh* And I have to be up at 5:30.
