OK, off to a fresh start again I have big jobs to do today, but I also have my mom here for a few hours, so that should help.

Clean up and vacuum living room and dining room
Move microwave and all other items from old baker's rack to new buffet in kitchen
Clean off dining room table so we can have birthday cake later tonight (for my dad)
Clean out three more baskets of stuff (did three yesterday, SO happy!)
Menu plan for the week
Organize linen/medicine closet

But first, off to the shower!

Still in pre-vacation mode. The kids are cleaning out the van right now, so that we can go vacuum it after lunch.

SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!

After 3 days the main floor is once again presentable.

I think I can get the upstairs done tomorrow.

It is completely pointless to tackle the basement family room, etc until after the holiday weekend.

Mind if I ask about this one? I've caught wild yeast for fermenting apple cider and ginger ale, and 'awakened' store bought yeast for breads etc... how do you make it? what is it for? (sorry to hijack I'm a bit of a ferment fetishist)

So, back on topic... I didn't do that terribly only two things on my original list I didn't get to and I'm doing one of them before I go to sleep for tonight...

for tomorrow:

Girls' room closet and dressers, both need straightening/thinning

have to take those donation clothes back in that got rained on today, re-wash and dry, then DONATE IMMEDIATELY

find a better spot for sewing machine

bathrooms- tubs, toilets and mirrors

sweep patio

water plants

gather cuisinart parts together for attempted exchange

find dillards gift card for afternoon outing, look up location in city of outing

milk pick up

pack snacks/drinks for outing

Ive done a BUNCH today but I still have a TON to do. So far today I have:
Did 2 loads of laundry
Cleaned the girls room and the master bedroom
Put away most of the girls toys
did dishes
made dinner and put it in the crockpot
made a meal plan and shopping list for the next two weeks.

I still need to:
Finish picking up the den Done
clean the two bathrooms Done
sweep the whole apartment Done
do 2-3 more loads of laundry 1 done 2 to go
made cornbread for dinner Done
do dishes
wipe down sinks
write up a to-do list for this weekend- DH has 4 days off and leaves for a month next Thursday so Id like to do some cleaning/organizing and planning this weekend while I still have someone to help with the girls.

I think thats its it.. Probably forgot something but oh well.

Did pretty well yesterday. I think I got all the living room stuff done I set out to do...and then got on a roll and started decluttering/organizing DS room/playroom!

Today I'm focussing on the office corner (also located in playroom):

Clear/tidy/sweep cubby under desk DONE
File/sort pile in front of file cabinet DONE

Didn't start the tasks below, but I have almost cleared the floor in this room! One small pile and some misc junk around the edges to go!

And maybe:

Clear top of computer (this is where a lot of 'to be filed' stuff gets dumped)
Start oragnizing/decluttering top of file cabinet

Also, possibly:

Declutter 'my' corner in living room

That's outside of day-to-day and maintenance tasks: keeping up with dishes, etc. I have really felt this week like I'm getting back into some kind of groove w/ the housekeeping stuff. I look forward to BAKING tomorrow! The temp and humidity are both supposed to break - the prediction is a high of 18 or 19 C (66-68F)! Yeast bread and muffins are both on the list, and we'll see what else I get up to.

Good morning everyone! I don't have a lot of time to do stuff today, unfortunately. I have my friend's baby here until around noon. And then I need to go out and pick up an ingredient I forgot that I need to make dinner tonight, and I need to go pick up a couple of little things for DH's birthday today

I did get my baking done yesterday, yay! So at least that's one less thing to have to think about.

So what do I NEED to do.....

Unload/reload dishwasher. Done
Vacuum kitchen. Done
Wipe down master bathroom(I'll do the bigger cleaning tomorrow).
Diaper laundry(its on its pre-wash cycle now). Is on final rinse nowDried, just need to fold
Prep dinner.DoneAnd did more because we might be having dinner guests now.
Shower!About toDone, of course!

I think that's it, because if I over commit, I'm just going to fail on all counts.
11:15am update: So far, not as much done as I would have liked, but the time sensitive stuff is out of the way, so that's a good start! Now I need to get ready so when the baby is picked up I can leave.
5:30pm update: Well, what's going to be done is done I think. I ended up spending more time than I planned picking out stuff for DH's birthday, and then had to come home and prep and marinate more food. We might have people for dinner, don't know yet! It's down to the wire. lol.

While I *didn't* do everything on the list yesterday, I acoompished more than I set out to. I feel like I'm really making progress in organization/decluttering/etc.!

I'm gonna make thisa weekend list, rather than splitting it into Sat/Sun:

BAKING! yeast bread (proab 3 loaves min) First rise DONE
blueberry muffins (to use up BB in fridge) GRr...done, but burnt. Probably salvagable, though
??? may do some cookies, other bread, etc. We'll see!
Maybe do some feed the freezer cooking/assembly?

Grocery shop - we need some basics, like milk and eggs DONE
Laundry - energy is cheapest after 9:00pm and on weekends here! STARTED MOSTLY DONE
Clean out and vacuum car - the weather is finally cool enough
Some basic meal planning - we know three of our meals for he weekend (through Labor Day) and one or two dinners for next week...we'll see what's marked down at the grocery store! GETTING THERE
Trip to Home Depot/Rona/etc. for cup hooks and probably paint - gonna refinish DS14 bedframe in color of his choice.

Other than that:

Continue declutter/organize jobs
* my corner in living room MOSTLY DONE - what's left is, in part, actually doing mending and stuff, then putting those items away. But I can *get* to the chair, and can sit in it.
* take some books to used bookshop for credit DONE - $5.00 credit for 2 books, the rest will get donated to a charity book sale. I found another one to donate yesterday, too.
* put rest of donation stuff into the clean car trunk
* sort/put away a huge pile of DS 19mo clean clothes STARTED
* declutter/org top shelf of DS small shelves
* ditto top two shevles of big shelves
Hmmm...declutter under end table
Maybe clear out and sweep under couch and loveseat

We'll see what kind of momentum I get going and what else gets done!

Of course - do dishes, keep floors basically clean, etc.

Okay, Sat morning.

I don't usually do a lot of housework on the weekends, but my classes started this week and my old routines are getting shuffled around a bit.

DH is mowing the lawn

I am going to go:

Wash breakfast dishes
clean both bathrooms
tidy upstairs
vacuum upstairs

I'll check back in and post progress!

Progress report:

Washed all the breakfast dishes. Wiped down counters.

Finished one bathroom -- decluttered the medicine cabinet -- I threw out three (!!!!) bottles of contact solution all of which expired more than a decade ago.

Off to start vacuuming the upstairs. Say goodbye, dust bunnies!

Sunday morning:

Well, didn't get everything done yesterday. It was a beautiful day, so we to play outside and a day with kids out of doors beats a day of cleaning any time.

So, today:

clean other bathroom
vacuum upstairs
tidy downstairs
vacuum downstairs

okay, after a weekend of insanity (a good kind of insanity, for the most part, but insanity none the less), I need to dig the house back out from under the mountain of dd`s laundered bedding (we are working on nighttime dryness but when there is too much going on and she is overtired, we go through a lot of sheets!), pencil sharpener shaving, itty bitty bits of colored paper and I know not what in the kitchen.

It is sunday night, so tonight, hopefully, I will get the kitchen if not clean, at least less health-hazard-like, and tomorrow morning get to the pick-up-and-put-away-ing and vacuuming.

This week I will be doing some major garbage decluttering - garbage is very tricky for me here in Japan, as anything that does not fit in a 50liter bag (that is like a 12 gallon garbage bag, very unsturdily built) can be thrown out twice a year, once on some day in June and once again some other day in December. In the five years I have lived here I have managed that once. BUT a friend in a neighboring town told me that their garbage is done differently and if I load the truck with our stuff (an old floor couch, an exercise machine left here by the last owners of the house, and, who knows what else!!), he can add his in and drive it to their town dump. Hooray! So that is tuesday.

Otherwise:
Monday: pick up and put away, vacuum, take out the regular garbage
-pick up and put away mostly done, plus declutter of dd`s art supplies done and several loads of laundry washed and hung!
-regular garbage out and started on gathering up the big garbage for tomorrow. now, just have to vacuum and get dinner going

Tuesday: load up the truck with the big stuff!!
Big stuff loaded - a full truckload! And smaller stuff bagged and set out for Wed collection, and some farm stuff that needs to go separately, hopefully in Thurs, bagged and ready to go.
Wednesday: take out the non-burnable garbage (this is collected once a month and includes things like broken dishes, and paint cans and nails)
Wed garbage is taken out. Now I need to:
1) Vacuum the whole house
2) Return the office/den to some semblance of order
3) Do my MM chores

Thursday: decrease the amount of spare bits if lumber by setting aside some to use for building shelves and maybe a kitchen island
Friday: load up the recycle to be taken to the drop off on Sunday (this also is collected once a month, so must not forget!)

so, if I can do the above plus my MM chores, I will be a happy camper (happy householder?)

So...yesterday I didn't feel like I accomplished as much as I wanted to...but I just went through my list, and I guess I didn't do to badly! The day flowed differently than I thinkI envisioned.

So far today I have:

Made breakfast (HM nutri-grain type bars)
Showered
Bathed DS
Swept kitchen floor (needs a better job, but it'll do for now)
Dressed myself and DS

Will keep plugging at weekend stuff listed yesterday, but I think today is clean the kitchen day - y'know, so it's sparking at the end of the day.

-Put away clean dishes DONE
-Keep up w/ new dishes DONE for now...
-Clear coutertops DONE
-scrub contertops DONE
-Wipe down cabinet fronts
-Scrub floor

Maybe:

Clean microwave
Clean stove (inside - if I feel *really* ambitious)

I think I would also like to do some more baking today - maybe more muffins, an apple crisp, possibly some cookies...we'll see!

I also want to make sure I'm maintaining the living room - with throughout-the-day tidying, sweeping, etc. If I get through the kitchen, I may give the living room floor a good scrub, too.

Today is not turning out to be productive at all! But that's ok. As long as the whole house doesn't descend into chaos, I'm ok with it! I'll make myself a list of chores for tomorrow and focus on that. Today, I just need to keep up with the dishes, laundry, and cooking. And that will be good enough!
DH and DS14 are out for some guy time, DS19mo is down for his nap, and I'm finding myself rather unproductive! I 'found' three more loads of laundry - DH's duffel needs a clean, and there were a couple pieces of bedding (sleeping bag, quilt) istil lin the trunk from camping a few weeks ago. Neighbors are using the machines right now, so I'll get those on later. Electric is non-peak prices for holidays, so as long I get the laundry through by the end of tomorrow, I'll feel okay about it.

In the meantime, I think I'll get up and do some of those dishes...before I sit down with a book...
Well, today was pretty mellow - but I finished the laundry (last load is running now) and did a ton of baking! My grandma's banana cookies, choc. chip cookies, and gingerbread bars - and the dough for ginger snaps is in the fridge. Sending a big container w/ DH to work tomorrow, and freezing some.

Also emptied my drawers of non-mat clothes so that I have room to put the clohtes that actually fit right now away! Kept a few things out that I was wearing within a week or two after DS birth, but other than that, it's stored. I intend, when the bin comes back in, to give it a month or six weeks, and whatever I haven't chosen to wear in that time goes - semi-automatic declutter!

Off to wind down before bed now.
