How long did your Medela PIS last you?

I'd like to hear from people that have used their Medela PIS's for more than a year with more than one child? Did it work okay? How long did it last you? How often did you pump?

I pumped about 14 months with DD. A good portion of that time I was pumping about 5 times a day M-F.

I am praying my pump will last through the time I need it with DS, though I will have to pump even more with DS.

I need some hope that it'll make it!

I pumped around the clock for 3 weeks with DS and then eventually just once a day until he was a year. With DD it was basically once a day from 1-12 months. It's still going strong and I'm hoping it'll make it through a year of once a day-ish pumping with #3.

My friend EP'd with her first and now is EPing with her 2nd. I think she had a few things on her PIS replaced but the motor is still working fine.

My PIS passed away after 6-7 months of pump 3+ times a day. Reading these posts makes me wonder if i need to tinker with it to get it to work again though.

Call Medela! If it's under a year, I think it should still be under warranty.

This! Ours quit after 4 months and they had a new one at our door in less than 24 hours! Their customer service is great. They send you a new pump and a postage-paid mailing label to mail the broken one back to them in the box the new one came in with a receipt if you have it.

Medela's customer service is GREAT. The faceplate of my PISA got broke and I couldn't find a replacement (it has been discontinued) so I phoned them to ask if there was anyplace to get one- they sent me 2 faceplates and new tubing for free.

Anyway, I pumped around the clock (one side) for 7 months with DS2 then 1-2x's a day for another 3 months before going to occasional pumping then pumped around the clock again after DS3 was born for 4 or 5 months before switching to 1-2x's a day for another 3 months, then back to occasional and now (3 years after I bought it), back to 1x/day since DS2 is possibly night weaning and I figured it was a good time to try to get a freezer stash... Not sure why I need a freezer stash at this late date but hey!
So altogether, I've used it for about a year around the clock then another 8 months of 1-2x's per day with 16 months of occasional (1x/week to 1x/month) use.

eta: Just noting that "pumping around the clock" for me meant pumping 10-12 times per day.

totally ot, but thanks for the advice mama's! I called in, and it's fixed now! ressurected!

OP, if you call add a little love, I think they have a trade in program, and if you do the freestyle contest on the medela website you get another 25 dollars off. It makes a new pump significantly cheaper, but not as cheap as using the one you got!

Well, obviously I can't guarantee that you will be served as well by your PIS as I have been by mine but that's been my experience with it.
I remember feeling the same way about many of the amazing women on this board when I first came here! Never thought I'd be the one to get such a compliment! We had a lot of challenges to overcome and, with the help of my PIS, we have!

Yeah, I know it's not a gaurantee... but I'll take it as positive hope. lol I've done the math and I've likely logged around 500 hours on it... so I think it should make it through the next year at least. I just need to make it to 1 year, and I will be okay with that.

one baby - 10 months 3x/day Mon-Friday. I'm now using the same pump 7 years later. So far we're into 3 months 3-4x/day Mon-Friday. Hoping it and my supply hang on until next March!
