Would you delay vax for toddler with lots of food sensativities?

My son is due to get his 2 year vaccines today.....I'm debating about delaying his remaining vaccines or atleast spacing them out. He's got severe severe intolerances (IgG) allergies to a tremendous list of foods, and it makes me nervous giving him a bunch of vaccines on top of it. Would you request to delay them or not give them at all?? And how would you approach it with your pediatrician?

He's in the middle of having a food reaction right now too, which makes me afraid that he's going to then react to the vaccines since his body is in a hyperstate right now.

Thanks for any input and opinions!!

I would, you can also request an ingredient list for the vaccines so that you can review it.

We are delaying vax because we are still working on pinning down what is causing a chronic cough in DD. She is dairy, soy, wheat, gluten, and corn free. I don't want to introduce chemicals in her system just as we finally have her off medication.

If the only reason to give the vaccines is that it is the recommended time, I would certainly delay until his system is better able to handle. You would hate to have regrets, and can always vaccinate later.

I believe a lot of the food intolerances are a side effect of vaccines. However, many people that do not vaccinate at all also experience them. I think it is wonderful that you are thinking of protecting your child from the dangerous toxins in the vaccines. There is a forum devoted to vaccine studies here on MDC at http://www.mothering.com/discussions...splay.php?f=47 Notice the subforums at top. I got the first vaccinations for my dd1, the birth ones, because I had not researched vaccines, and then we were strongarmed into the 2 mo ones (I had just begun research) by a health professional that did not even know what the ingredients were. She has multiple food intolerances that have a significant bearing on her demeanor. dd2 has had no vaxes (and I wasn't convinced by an insane dentist to have all my mercury fillings ripped out while pregnant like with dd1...) and no interventions/ antibiotics... and I have not seen any problems. of course I live GFCFSF already with dd1... and dd2 and I are mostly corn free too. And canola free.

Anyway, yes I think vaccines are a factor in food allergies and intolerances. Here is a site for a book explaining the connection between deadly peanut allergies and vaccines...

I knew someone on this forum would have great info for me!! I'm so glad that I'm going with my gut on this one....I didn't before and he has had his vaccines all on time despite him being a preemie (that was my first mistake...okaying his birth vaccines at 7 weeks premature...I didn't know any better)!! Thanks for giving me some power!!!

I would delay, but I should be up-front and say that we no longer vaccinate at all. My son hasn't been vaccinated, he's 4, and he has a relatively short list of food intolerances and a fairly pathetic immune system. I'm working on the latter--I've been working on it a couple years now--and I truly think that our struggles would be more if I'd vaccinated him. So I'd vote stop, at least for the foreseeable future.

Not knowing your pediatrician, I'd first suggest being straightforward and say hey, my child's health is already precarious, at least until I understand and have significantly reduced the food reactions, I'm not willing to vaccinate. They may argue that vaccines don't cause food intolerances, but unless they've got a really solid reason why your child has food intolerances, they don't know, and so they don't know that vaccination will be fine. Separate from the aluminum and other strange ingredients that I don't think are great for anybody.

We've never vaccinated, but we had planned to do delayed vaccination with DD when it was time for her to go to school. My younger child is autistic, and we will never vaccinate him - his body has already shown itself to be very fragile to external "insults" like that (he ended up with toxic levels of antimony in his body because of flame retardants in his futon - the same futon DD slept on and had no issues).

I think some kids just have very fragile systems, and I frequently am very grateful we didn't vax DS before we knew he was one such fragile kid. DD I'm sure we could vax without issues.

If your son is food reacting, his system is in a fragile state. I'd tell the doctor that - they generally don't recommend vaxing sick kids, so that will likely make the most sense to him/her. Once you have your son to a more stable, non-food reacting place, then you can decide to vax, not vax, delayed vax...

We vaccinate, but if my child were allergic to an ingredient in a vaccine, I would not do it until the child were having less severe reactions.

Thank you all so much for your input and support. His dr. didn't even bat an eye when I told her I wanted to hold off on his vaccines today. She totally understood with his reactions that are going on right now how he might not handle them well. He's only due for Hep A and one other thing, so it's not a big deal holding off on them to begin with.
