School Physical?

How do I find out what the laws are regarding getting my children a school physical? The school says its required - but they also tell people that up to date shots are required so I dont think they have all the info.

I'd like to waive it. But I have no idea what the laws are.

Can you just ignore the request and go along with your days like you never knew? That's what I do with work where I am required to have all vaccines included the H1N1 and flu shot.

It probably depends on your state/district. We are able to submit a waiver for the exam.

Where we live, then will send your child home from school if they don't have the appropriate form on file (either the physical or the waiver).

Yep! I think it's like that in most places.

What state are you in? I'm in FL and here the physical "requirement" is written into the vax law. All we have to do to opt out is write a letter of our own composition that we object on religious grounds.

I take my kids for a check-up once a year; my objection is to being told I must do it, as if I'm too stupid to know how to care for my kids without Big Brother holding me firmly by the wrist. So we file an opt-out letter.

Ok I am in Florida also - and I got my vaccine religious exempt from the health dept. Now all I have to do is write a letter and give it to the school for his file?

PS - you wouldnt happen to have that statute would you?

I was just going through my old posts and saw this. Sorry for the delayed reply, you've probably already sorted it out. The opt-out for the physical is written right in to the vax law.

In our district they will send your kid off to whatever random doctor the school has contracted with for a physical if you don't supply the paperwork from your own doctor.
