Did you go back to diapers during pl regression?

How did you handle PL regression?

DS is 27 months, and at 23 months was 90% PL during day and night pee and poop.

2 months ago, we moved. This caused serious regression with pee. We basically went back to EC. Was hoping he would start telling us when he had to pee, but it started to be a fight to sit on the potty to pee at all. But poop was 100% in the potty everytime.

Yesterday, he started pooping on the floor, in pants... He has had 4 poop accidents since then. Seriously thinking about diapers now.

What experience have you had with regression and going back to diapers.

We are moving again in another month. We had mold in our house and have been moving around since January.

I did. Just ignored it and bought diapers again, it wasn't too long and she started using the potty again.

Have you thought about using the pull-ups type products? That way there would be protection from accidents without the confusion of going backwards to diapers. Otherwise I would go back to diapers rather than make an issue during a time when he is already stressed.

Yes, the pull ups is the type I'm talking about. They are the most comfortable to go back to for him. I talked about it with hubby and we are going back to them for a while, especially since it's been rough on all of us lately.

Just wondering about others experience with going back.

We should be moving back into our house in late September. I know this will be a huge change for Ds as well, so I'm not sure when he will pick up the skill to be in underwear again. It sure was nice while it lasted!

No. I think they cause the regression to stay longer. We just did more laundry and then the issue corrected itself. I've heard nothing but bad reports about potty learning and pullups.

No, disposable Pull-Ups made potty training take FOREVER with my first daughter; she seemed to think they were too much fun. With my second daughter, we used cloth diapers with her until she got the hang of it (a whole week!). You don't need many at this point; we made due with just two or three diapers and covers in the toddler size.

Hmmm...you do have a point there, however I had him in training pants for about 3 weeks and no success. I don't want him to get used to the feeling of wet underwear, but cloth diapers might be another option for us.

No, we didn't and I don't think it's a good idea. Once we started PL'ing, it was underwear and we didn't look back (other than nights...he's not dry at night yet). We had a regression as well and it was extremely frustrating and I was doing so much laundry Fortunately, we have no carpet so it really wasn't a big deal. We just got through it recently and he's 28 months now and doing really well. Even better than before the regression. It'll pass, mama. Hang in there

Thanks for the hugs Amy. How long did the regression last for you? It seems this is lasting months! We did have a little progress today though.

He did a poo in his pull up. When I took it off of him, some got on his leg. I showed it to him and told him "if you go poop on the potty, you won't get dirty". Then I put him in the bath and made a show of cleaning him up. He has since then had another poop and told us he wanted to do it on the potty. This is his first poop in the potty for three days now... So, I'm pretty psyched about that!

I still have to work with him on the pee. Unfortunately, he has been peeing on the carpet or in his underwear for a few months and we have been scrambling to clean it up and hoping this will pass. I'm afraid the peeing on the floor has become too much of a habit to try and change anything now.

It was a good month, I think. If you're not already try taking him to the potty and having him sit (not forcing him, though) EVERY.SINGLE.TIME he wets in his underwear. If you just scramble to clean him up, you're tacitly reinforcing that it's ok to wet your pants cause mama will just clean you up. You need to reinforce instead that he must use the potty. Taking him every time will help him come to make that association. You could also try the three day pt'ing method wiith the pee. That would be to have him only in underwear and watch him very closely to see when he starts to pee and catch him in the act and then rush him to the potty. He needs to have the "pee goes in the potty" thing reinforced as much as possible.

Good advice - I think it will work better for me once he stops fighting with me when I try to sit him on the potty. I'm hoping that once these blasted molars come in, he will be a little more amenible to my suggestions about where he should pee...
