Progesteone while pregnant question

Hey ladies!!!

I was wondering if any of you could tell the difference between pregnancy symptoms or just side effects from progesterone?

I've had 2 losses this year so I guess I am trying to hang onto anything I can...but keep wondering if it's "just" the progesterone.

I have been on progesterone starting at 4DPO....when I had my level tested at 13dpo my level was 38.36

My boobs have doubled in size and are a lot fuller. Could progesterone do that or is it more likely from being pregnant? I also have been feeling pukey here and there..which could be from either. With DD I didn't get m/s until 8 weeks and then it was B-A-D..:Puke several times a day - lost 15 lbs. I've also been hungrier, more tired, etc.

Anyway...any experience ladies?

Hey Tara- I should've answered this on the BSL Grads thread, but forgot. I've been on progesterone (both injected and on the suppositories which I'm currently on 50mg 2x daily) I had 0 side effects from the progesterone. The reason I know is that I began taking the progesterone before I got pregnant (5 days before transfer) and felt nothing. No nausea, no sore bbs, NADA. Shortly after implantation, and my positive test, my bbs started to KILL me and they got huge. I started getting nausea off an on. Then at around week 7 I started getting really really sick. So no side effects from the Progesterone at all. Though scientifically I can't tell you what causes all of it, I think it has to do more with HCG than Progesterone....

Basically as Nanette said...

any symptoms you got before your bfp were probably (though not 100%, some could be pregnancy!) progesterone symptoms and continuing to get those symptoms would be due to the progesterone. Any new symptoms are due to the pregnancy itself.

Some women believe the progesterone enhances their pregnancy symptoms, but whether or not that is true, you need to have the pregnancy symptoms in the first place for them to be enhanced!

I took progesterone every month for 5 months at 3 DPO and never had any side effects. When I found out I was pregnant ( I think it was 12 or 13 DPO) the bloodwork showed my progesterone was at 26.

Thank you so much ladies. I'm feel much better about everything

I was on progesterone during my first miscarriage...and had zero pregnancy symptoms as the baby had already died. I also was on progesterone other cycles that we did not conceive and I never felt the way I am feeling now. My BB's are incredibly sore and quite large....

Thanks for giving me some relief from my anxiety ladies! s

Tara, just wanted to pop in and say I'm thinking of you!

I went on progesterone after I was already pregnant because my levels were low ... but yes, it definately made all of my pregnancy symptoms worse. My OB even said that was to be expected. Super sore boobs & extremely tired were the two symptoms I noticed that it really enhanced for me.

But you've got to have pregnancy symptoms for it to enhance in the first place! So that is a very, very good sign.
