Radio anyone? - Page 2

Y'all can listen to my NPR affiliate online if you want to. It's www.wunc.org , home of "The Story with Dick Gordon", "The People's Pharmacy", and "The State of Things (about NC topics, but many stories of interest to folks in other areas also). WUNC also is almost all talk. It carries the BBC at 9am ET, some Pacifica programs, The Diane Rehm show, Fresh Air, This American Life, Radio Lab, Moth Radio Hour, and all the standard NPR/public radio programs like All Things Considered and A Prairie Home Companion, etc.

Also, when ds was 3 I heard him walking around singing the theme to All Things Considered. Around the same age, I told him I wanted to listen to NPR. He said, "You mean National Public Radio?" Many of the programs have led to many interesting and informative discussions with my kids, that's for sure.
by live streaming you mean internet right? argh it pisses me off sometimes because of teh delay. plus i have a net book so cant really hear from it. and i hate wearing earphones all the time.

i just love turning on a regular radio.

i am just so sad that the only options really is NPR.

oh and dd now is bored of talk radio. she wants pop

we sometimes still listen to science friday but our favourite was click and clack. i need to get her hooked on the game show that happens is it sunday mornings. she is enjoying game shows on tv.

she loves commercials on radio. commercials is our fun time because we keep talking back to stuff that doesnt make sense. our fav. commercial to attack is the 'babies can read' one.

yeah radio is big for her too.

Thank you! My mom is always talking up the Diane Rehm show, and we don't have it available here. I'll definitely be checking it out.

Yep. That's what I meant. Sounds like that isn't a good option for you, though. Do you have an MP3 player? You could download some podcasts if you do.

My absolute favorite NPR radio program is The Big Broadcast, a Washington DC area vintage radio program on Sunday nights hosted by Ed Walker. You can listen online anytime at http://wamu.org/programs/bb/

1.  I love almost every single NPR radio show. My absolute favorites...

      Car Talk

      Wait, Wait, don't tell me!

      Splendid Table

      Marketplace Money/Marketplace Money Report

      Sandra Tsing Loh's The Lohdown

      Morning Edition

      All Things Considered

     The Diane Rehm Show

Talk of the Nation Science Friday

      Tell Me More

      The People's Pharmacy

2. I like commercial talk radio a lot, in fact the Larry King Show is what started my addiction to talk radio.

    The Jim Bohannon Show

    The Clark Howard Show

3.  In the last year or so, even though we are not religious, our family has become big fans of

     The Dave Ramsey Show

4. I'm not sure what category this is because it's on NPR, but it's only 4 times per year, but we love it!

    The Capitol Steps

5.  And of course, my dd's all time favorite show

    Prairie Home Companion

6.  When I was in grad school, almost 20 years ago, I used to listen to Old Time Radio Shows in a series called

When Radio Was with host Stan Freiburg.  I haven't heard it anywhere for a long time, although I heard Stan Freiburg interviewed on the Jim Bohannon show recently.  I was on the floor laughing the whole time!

7.  I like BBC World News, but I'm not usually around to hear it during the broadcast time.

8.  Our local commercial radio station has a recipe/household hints show called Listen to the Missus.

Can you tell that we are TV free?

We love NPR. (And they even manage to quote my blog posts without totally jacking up my name lately, total win lol)

I like Think Out Loud, Destination DIY, Snap Judgement, Moth Radio Hour, Car Talk, etc.
