Craig's List, question: maximum # of items per post?

I just learned that you can only post one listing per category every 48 hours.

I know that virtual yard sales (tag sales, garage sales, etc.) are prohibited but I have seen various posts with related items in one listing. E.g.: under baby and kids you might see one posting with a baby carrier, a pack n play, a stroller and crib. The price is usually noted as $1.00 and if the item titles are short enough there might be enough room for a price in the heading. Otherwise, the individual prices are noted within the listing.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether this is an acceptable practice? Are the examples I've seen ones that have slipped by the informal flagging process?

Also, I do know that you can't link to "commercial websites or auctions". Am I correct in assuming that is intended to prevent people from essentially advertising? If so, would it be ok to link to a manufacturer's or retailer's site with a stock photo of the item you are listing and perhaps additional descriptive info? I've seen people do this as well but again I don't know if they've slipped by the flaggers.

Thanks,

I list more than 1 listing per category at a time.

I *think* the rules are you can't do the same item post more than every 2 days, its to prevent spamming and overposting. People here dont get that and keep changing their ad to top post it.

There is no limit to # of items you can put in your listing. Yes you can use 'stock' photos. Craigslist isnt patroled like ebay.

I discovered today that we now have Craigslist here, so I listed a few children's clothes today.

I don't think I will have much luck though, as I have a feeling nobody looks at Craigslist here...there were no other listings for kids clothes at all!

Editing to ask if some listings take ages to appear? ...because one of my 3 listings I put up, isn't showing up at all, even though I got an email confirmation.

I'm new to Craig's List but I ran into trouble posting my first item. It turns out that I needed to verify my account with my phone number. Which wasn't obvious at all. I think whatever "prompt" or "pop up" I got when I thought I'd hit the final submit/finish button was lurking.

But then again I didn't get an email confirmation. Are you sure the confirmation was for your item and not your account?

Try accessing your account and see if there is a way to verify after the fact. I think that's what I wound up doing.

One other thing, if you plan on listing a lot of items it may be worth opening a separate email account so the inevitable spam doesn't clog up your permanent email InBox.

I'm not sure on all on the rules of craigslist but I just save stock photos and upload them into the listing instead of redircting to a manufacturers listing. Personally, I don't usually click listings that have an outside link to a manufacturers site, so I try to avoid doing that in my own listings.

I delete my ad if I don't get any responses and either try a different category or repost a day or two later. Im just starting to get back into a groove and made $75 in the last 2 days by selling only handful of items.

I see a lot of listings with multiple items too and I'm pretty sure it's okay as long as it's related to the category. I like pictures though so those listings don't usually catch my eye enough to read.

I'm curious to know if you can post a link to a blog. I think that would be a cool way to list a bunch of things and have pictures.

A quick follow up question

Can you do cross reference your listings / postings with a yard sale?

I'm now planning on taking everything I want to list, and spreading them out over the categories they could fit under. But also listing all of the valuable or high demand items in a garage sale listing for this weekend.

Could I mention the yard sale in the separate listings of multiple items by category?

Or could I simply say something like "check out my other listings by searching my CraigsList "handle".?

Thanks,
~Cath
