Favorite Board Games Ages 6-9 years old?

We are thinking of instituting game-night and no-TV on weeknights in November when we move into our new flat and am wondering if any of you wise MDC Mamas have great suggestions for board games that work with 3 people, two adults and a 6-9 year old child (she'll be that age while we live in this new place, and I like to plan ahead).

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

My kids are ages 3 and 6, so the oldest is on the lower end of the age range you gave. Our favorite games here currently are:

- Cariboo by Cranium
- Baloon Lagoon by Cranium
- Monopoly Junior (very fun, and takes less time to play than regular Monopoly)
- Mouse Trap (this one drives me bonkers, trying to keep track of all the pieces, but the kids love it!)
- Yatzee (6 year old only - it is much too hard for the 3 year old)
- Pigmania/Pass the Pigs - basically a dice game, but with two pigs that you roll instead of dice. PigMania was a favorite of my siblings and I when we were kids. Pass the Pigs is the new name for it, and my kids love it, too.

my dd (9 yo) loves loves loves Pente (but good luck finding it-- I finally made my own board out of green velveteen leftover from her brother's Robin Hood / Peter Pan costume and bought glass beads, LOL)

In the past 3 years... she/ they have enjoyed:

checkers and chess (old standbys for a reason I guess)
cranium (and all it's variations)
pictionary
guesstures (it's just fancy charades)
outburst
backgammon
othello/ reversi
life (oy)
monopoly jr and farm-opoly
euchre (it's like Swiss poker, and they like many other card games)

We all like Set. (Well, DD and I like it, and DP doesn't mind playing it, but I think he'd like it better if he didn't usually lose.)

Labyrinth is entertaining enough for adults to play it without getting bored, and easy enough for a kid as young as 4 to play. (It says it's for 8 and up, but it's fine for younger kids, too - they just won't come up with the cleverest strategy.)
