Stay dry doublers - would this work?

I have TONS of MF inserts for FB, but all of DS's old FB elastics are shot and I'm not really sure that I want to fix them. We've got newborn and small GMD workhorse diapers and will probably go ahead and buy some mediums, too. For doublers, would it work to sew some microfleece to one side of the microfiber inserts and then just lay them inside the workhorse diapers? I keep finding decent microfiber remnant for really cheap, so was wondering if that would work.

it should work, just make sure that water goes through the microfleece rather than beading up on top of it
