My daughter was strange all day today and I'm not sure if something is wrong or if this is normal. There were a few things that were just really odd and I keep making excuses for each thing, but I still find it odd that they all happened at once. Do your kids ever have "off" days?
First, she woke up at about 4 am this morning and didn't go back to sleep. She never ever does this. She has always slept through the night until at least six thirty or seven, sometimes nine. (My halfhearted excuse for this was giving her a tiny bit of Light Silk chocolate soymilk at dinner.)
Then all day today she has played entirely by herself which she has never ever done. She is 2.5 and has always been extremely high-needs and won't play alone longer than about ten or fifteen minutes at a time. She was totally happy to be by herself today and smiled a lot and seemed alert and peaceful. (My excuse for this one is that I made her a fort with her dad's blanket which was new and awesome and also she played with a new girlfriend her age yesterday and they got along which she isn't used to. Other kids usually bully her horribly.)
The only really bad part was that at one point, this fully potty-trained (even at night) little girl got up on our bed, stood up, looked down, and peed right there. This is just bizarre. She never has accidents and knows never to pee anywhere but the potty. (I blamed this on the excitement of the new fort and she just didn't want to stop to use the potty, but it's still way bizarre for her.)
I thought she might not be feeling well because last night she said she felt hot before bed and she was sweaty and looked flushed, but she didn't have a fever. I put a fan on over her and didn't think much of it.
She is fully conversational and says that she feels great and doesn't hurt anywhere. She isn't tired and her tummy feels fine.
Do your kids ever have days like this where everything seems weird? It's almost like someone switched my baby out for the day.
Does it sound like illness or maybe allergies or something or is this normal from time to time? I'll watch her close tomorrow and if things still worry me I'll take her to the doctor's office. Maybe I'm just being an overly-worried mom.
