If I live/work in different states, could I get unemployment?

I live in MA and work from home. My job is portable. The company is located (incorporated) in MA.

I might move to another state. If I got laid off, could I collect unemployment? If so, from which state? I assume MA, but do they mail checks to other states? It would be way too far to drive to the unemployment office on a regular basis. This could be a deciding factor on moving or not.

You should be covered under MA but check with them first.

I am in NJ and we had lay-offs at our hospital. One of the nurses I started with had just moved from MA and was able to collect benefits through MA when we were let go.

I don't know how the unemployment office would view your moving and the effect it had on your company's decision to be let go.

Do you think you will be letting you go if you move? Or are you just making sure things would be covered just in case?

The latter - my bosses know I'm thinking about moving and it's fine. If I'm let go down the road it would be because of the lousy economy, that's all.
