First day was GREAT!!!

I want to shout it from a mountain top but I don't think anyone IRL would care one bit! Yesterday was my first day of being a SAHM, this time for a good long time. I took 11 mos of mat leave when DS was born but always had that return to work date looming over my head so I never gave myself over fully to the SAHM gig - this time it's totally different. I'm not going back any time soon and DH and I both feel so at peace with the decision. DS and I had a fantastic day yesterday! I got so much done and we had fun too. I know it won't always be like this and there are lots of challenges ahead but I'm so glad that we got off to a great start. I even dreamt about work last night - in my dream I screwed up a big project and I'm taking this as a sign that I'm not meant to be there right now. It was so wonderful to wake up this morning knowing that I "just" get to hang out with DS again today.

That's all - just had to tell someone how happy I am.

Oh mama, I hear you! Before DDalmost8 was born, I had no clue I would want to stay home, so we made no real provisions or plans for it. After she was born...well, that tune changed! But we didn't manage to make it financially possible until just this past February, and I want to get down on my knees everyday and say thank you! It's been harder than I ever thought it would be, but not one minute has gone by that I have regretted the decision.

Enjoy every second of it, and congratulations!!!

It's Friday now and this week has been WONDERFUL. So much easier than I'd expected! We already have a bit of a routine developing. It has been killer hot/humid here, which DS and I don't usually take well (we don't have a/c) but still we've hung in there without any breakdowns. Best of all, DS seems really, really happy. I was so worried that he'd be bored just at home with me compared to daycare but apparently I'm enough after all! Our dog on the other hand...I think she liked having the house to herself more than she realized.
