sodium ascorbate for cold or WC?

HI

My son (almost 22 months)came down with a cold? on Saturday and he is now coughing-no fever at all...
Probably got it from my MIL who has had a cold with a cough.
She just flew via LA so I am getting paranoid that this might be something more than a cold-maybe early WC?
I know I can be pretty alarmist.....
I just ordered some SA on line.
Is it a good idea to give him some to help his immune system even if this is just a cold or bug other that WC? How much would you give? Would you only give to tolerance if he ended up getting WC?
I have given him regular vit c before but not SA so this is new to me...
Thanks

SA was a godsend when my son was little, he got sick tons and tons, and there was a distinct difference in the severity and length of his colds when I gave him SA vs when I slacked. Those were just regular colds, to me it was well worth using it for all his illnesses.

Really, for dosing, you need to experiment. The starting guidelines I've read are 250 mg/ kg body weight, which translates to 1.1 grams per 10 pounds of body weight--that's divided into 3 or 4 doses throughout the day. My son needed a lot more than that but he's not typical. I'd start there, though, and then see if you need to go higher.

eta: the 250 mg/kg is a "when-sick" dosing guideline, not a healthy dosing guideline. For WC, I've read 375 mg/kg, but again, everyone needs to experiment.

It very well could be WC. It's everywhere right now. We're in the Philly 'burbs and it's widespread. We're in week 5 of it and Ds still has a wicked cough.

Sick-dosing with SA *REALLY* helped us. I just started off giving my kiddos (10,7 & 4) 1/2 tsp at a time (1.69g) & went up from there at each dose. It could take a while to hit bowel tolerance - I took 18g and didn't so much as fart. Once you do hit bowel tolerance, it's not a big deal - I just went a couple of times within 15 minutes & that was it.
