Biting?

How can i curb this behavior? I dont mean during nursing either, since hes ff. I mean when he crawls over to me and chomps on my foot or knee or whatever other body part he takes a fancy to. Its extremely painful, but my shrieks, removing him from the situation and redirecting and telling him no bite havent worked. Ive wondered if hes using it as an indicator of hunger, so ive tried giving him a bottle, and ive tried solids, but there are times when hes clearly not interested in either.

He is still quite young, not yet a year, but i figured toddler parents would have more experience than infant.

I have a mean tone of voice I employed when Shanna tried that just a little. It upset her enough that she stopped pretty quick. I wasn't trying to sound mean. It just really hurt.

Cristeen, we have the same problem so I'll definitely watch this thread.
DS is 16 months old & will bite me very often. Usually it is when he gets really excited (while we play and tickle etc.) or when he's really teething (I've noticed that the latter is the most common). Although sometimes he'll do it out of the blue. Redirecting and saying no hasn't worked for us either. If I yell OUCH, he just laughs...
*sigh*

Is there a chance that he's teething? My son will try to bite me when he's teething (and yowza it hurts!), so I'll give him some ice in a mesh feeder or something else to help relieve the pain.

"ouch biting hurts, you can bite this" hand him a teething toy. repeat. If he looks like he's going to bite possibly, i'd say 'kisses!' to remind him or if you're sure, say 'i won't let you hurt me' and move away.

Ds went through a period like that. It was awful. He'd come over to me, I'd think I was getting a hug & then he'd bite my shuolder. I started avoiding letting him snuggle against me.

We just were verrrrrrry consistent about correcting him (we would put him down away from us & tell him we don't bite) & he did eventually get it.
