What do you wear? - Page 2

For my first two births, the baby and I wore matching birthday suits. For my 3rd birth, we wore co-ordinating birthday suits.

I had three "land births." I just don't like being in the water during labor. And I still didn't want to wear anything during labor. Anybody I was comfortable having around while I was birthing, I was comfortable seeing me nude.

I went to Goodwill and picked up a few oversized (for me) men's button down shirts in really soft/worn fabrics, and then washed them on hot a few times before the birth to further break them down. I loved them. I wore one for the birth (or most of it - by the time the actual birth came, I was naked), and rotated through them all over the next week or so. They were long enough that I felt mildly modest even without pants on right up until the birth when I stripped completely. Better, though, was for after the birth - they made nursing so easy when friends came by (I'm not comfortable really blatantly NIP, even with friends), were loose enough that the nipples could air dry but still be covered, I could leave them open and pull it closed if I had to walk by the windows that face the street... I just loved them.

I didn't wear anything. And at the time, I didn't care about being naked.

I was in early labor (ctx 7-10 minutes apart) for about 30 hours. I wore yoga pants & a maternity t-shirt during that portion. Once I went into active labor and got the go ahead from the midwives to get into the birth tub, I could have cared less what I did or did not have on - that tub had been taunting me for a full day, with its wonderful pain relieving goodness. I stripped down to nothing on the way to the tub, flinging my clothes all over my living room. That was at maybe 9 p.m. and I didn't put clothes on again until after he was born, 10 hours later - even for the parts where I got out of the tub, they just draped a towel around me.

I wore one of DP's big t shirts until it was annoying to me about half way through. I am/was a modest one but during labor I ripped the darn thing off when going in and out of the tub!

**Wanted to add.... I purchased a couple long tanks and a long night gown... ended up donating to goodwill. The t shirt was the greatest. I could easily take it off and put it on as needed quickly.

I've never even been pregnant (LOL), but I kind of envision wearing a bikini top with a swim skirt (no bikini bottoms). Knowing me, I'll end up nekkid (and I'm not particularly "modest"), but I'm big-busted and like that support, plan to labor in a tub, etc. Plus, IDK... My mom will be there. And while I couldn't care less if she sees me naked (not to mention, she's a doctor), I think I'd rather be semi-covered before I hit transition and it all goes out the window.

I wore a bra so I was covered in pics. I had a cosy robe nearby that I wore for all of the 20 minutes I was out of the tub.

I *try* to wear a short gown, but always end up naked. I get WAY too hot with anything on.

I stripped off all my clothes and ended up naked. I'm not the hang-out-naked type and even looking back it still surprises me. I bought a new robe and have some t-shirts to wear but I'll probably end up naked again this time.

I birthed at a hospital last time, but I wore this big black nightie I got at Target for like $10. I had been wearing it as a nightie while pregnant, and it was super comfy, not too long so I could just keep it on, and ribbed cotton so I just pulled it up or down to get skin to skin and nurse afterwards. It was bloody but we washed it and it's black, so I've kept it. I'm thinking I might use it again this time at home. I do want to be able to have pics this time without my huge boobs in every shot . I might do something that's just a loose top, if I do a waterbirth, but otherwise... and remember, plenty of moms strip down in transition I didn't, I wanted a blanket to curl up with, but I know others have said that.

Started out in a stretchy, very comfortable simple cotton tube dress that I bought for $5 on the beach in Mexico on our honeymoon. That lasted maybe a couple of hours before I peeled it off and spent the rest of my labor completely naked. I'll start out in the same dress this time, probably, unless the house is too cold for some reason.

I started off with a long dress-like top.

then it came off.

i put on a tankini.

then it came off.

then i wore another tankini.

then it came off.

moral of my story.

it all came off.

After a while I couldnt stand anything touching me. DUring both labors I was naked most of the time. Yes there are pics... and at the time I did not care at all... I actually dont even care now. One of the pics is in my midwife's office and all you can see if my torso/breasts/and a naked baby on top. You cant see my face but I have no problem telling people that it was me.

Like most mamas, I was naked by transition, but before that I wore a robe. The only problem was that my belly was so big, it didn't close all the way, and I think this time I'd like something that fits better.

Any ideas on where to get a robe to fit a huge pregnant belly?

I had my 1st 2 babes at the hossy, and I remember that the moment DS1 was born, I was pulling at the strings of the hossy gown, saying, "get this thing off, get it off!" And with DS2, I think I wanted it off just as he crowned. This time, at home, I have a photographer and a bunch of people so I am planning on having a knee length skirt for around the house, and a swim skirt with no undies for the tub and a swim suit top so it can easily be removed if/when I want it to be. I will also have a robe if I get cold. I think I will set aside some yoga pants and a comfy tshirt or tank to wear if I want that too. I say, have some options, lol.

Nothing for my first two births. With DS I kept on a black sports bra and took it off once he was born and I got out of the tub.

I was fully dressed in yoga pants and T-shirt and wrap top until transition last time. I remember being really self-conscious about how I looked for some bizarre reason. Once my water was broken and I was near the end I did not care at all, and all that came off except my bra.

I definitely like to have a bra on at least. I NEVER go topless... don't like it. I wore a black bra through my labour last time, except in the bath or shower, but I still put it back on after and had it on when my DD was born (in the hospital bed).

This time since I'll be at home I'll have my whole wardrobe handy, so I'm sure I'll just switch clothes a lot but I'll probably just end up in a bra again. I'll probably take it off right after the birth to nurse though. Or I could wear a nursing bra. Not sure. I'm hiring a birth photographer this time, so I'll probably ask her what's better, lol!

it depends on what i am wearing when labor starts. It has always started while i was in my house clothes tshirt and pants or skirt, and i have ended up buck naked or still wearing a shirt. in my pics last time my tank was all covered in blood so i didn't feel like sharing them anyway. i think it just depends on a lot of variables.

I just wore regular clothes until active labor hit. Then I put on a wrap style bra top and a stretchy yoga maternity skirt. Skirt came off when I got in the pool and that was it for the rest of the birth.
