Good reason for u/s, or paranoia? (long, sorry)

I've probably mentioned this a thousand times on this board and my DDC so I'm sorry if I sound like a broken record, but for the sake of giving a good background:

I have had four unmedicated vaginal births - three in the hospital, the fourth at home. Aside from a few little glitches here and there (like my third baby aiming towards my hip instead of descending properly, so they had to break my water to help her zoom down into place when I was 8cm) but they were all normal, healthy pregnancies/labors/births/babies.

For my fifth, I planned a homebirth but when I was 33 weeks pregnant, I had a weird tightening sensation like a contraction but it didn't loosen up for about 10 minutes. I felt dizzy and nauseous. I lay down for a while and over the next 24 hours felt a few BH contractions. The following evening my water broken and it continued to gush for the rest of the night, getting bloodier and bloodier. After being monitored overnight in the hospital I ended up loosing way too much blood and had c-section early the next morning. My daughter was healthy for her gestational age but still had to spend a month in the NICU. The birth report said that a piece of the placenta had separated from the uterine wall, causing the PROM and bleeding, and they also found a large ovarian cyst (I don't know whether that played a part in the premature labor or not).

I was told to wait a year before conceiving again and found out that I was pregnant two weeks before my baby was one. Throughout this pregnancy I've had fairly constant pain in the incision site, which I see is common from the boards and my MW says it's not something I should worry about. Now I am 25 weeks pregnant and starting to have a lot of BH contractions, which I usually have during pregnancy, but never with an incision scar from a c/s. It hurts. I have been sick lately with some kind of stomach thing and have gotten dizzy several times over the past few days...that, coupled with the cramping and pain in the incision site, are making me nervous. My MW requires one ultrasound at 18-22 weeks for her HBAC patients to make sure everything looks good, and everything did at the time, but I'm starting to wonder if I should get another to check out the placenta and baby since I'm having this pain lately. Is that reasonable or am I just being way too paranoid?

Sorry this was long for such a basic question.

Sorry that I do not have advice or experience, I just had to say your third birth played out exactly like my second did: acynclitic babe heading toward my hip, broke water at 8cm, and yes, he did ZOOM straight down the birth canal after that. Just wild to hear someone else had the same, exact experience.

I would certainly be paranoid about pain at an incision site. There can be scar tissue that is having to break free as your uterus continues to grow, I think. I hope you find the answers and the peace you need.

I think if you feel like you need an u/s then you should definitely get one. I'm a big believer in women's intuition and hopefully everything is looking great and you will be reassured. And after the experience you had I can definitely understand being anxious.

Definitely get an ultrasound. If there is a problem (which I hope beyond hope there is not) it is best to catch it early. And if there is no problem, you will not have to spend any more time worrying about this problem. There are plenty of things to worry about that we can not control . Best of luck!

You sound totally reasonable to me.

My first pregnancy after my c/s was a bit nerve wracking. I had a lot of scar tissue breaking up and various aches and pains throughout my pregnancy. I called my MW a lot. When I was 36 weeks, I went for an u/s to check on the integrity and thickness of scar and it was great.

I'd say do what reassures you. Peace of mind is a beautiful thing .

yup, i think an u/s could be helpful most likely nothing is wrong, but having it checked can put your mind at ease.
