I knit up two legwarmers, followed the guage on the pattern, and they're HUGE! I should have tried the one on before knitting the second, but didn't. I'm overweight, like in a BIG way, if anything they should be too tight, not HUGE! They fit my thighs! So, my question is, what can I do with them? I tried tying them with ribbon, that didn't work. Not sure what else to do, I just hate to throw them away. Unfortunately, they're acrylic so there won't be any shrinkage.

There is a technique called steeking where you actually sew and cut, and it can be used to adjust for size. You'd end up with a seam, but it's a heck of a lot faster and less frustrating than pulling it all out and starting over. If you have a sewing machine, you can use it. If not, the easiest and most secure way is to take a crochet hook and chain stitch the seam.
A tutorial:

The directions are usually meant for converting in-the-round to flat, but to dowhat you want to do I would simply turn the legwarmer inside out and make the steek through both layers and then cut away the excess.
You followed the guage for the pattern, but does your yarn match up? If the yarn's guage is larger than what is called for, you'd have to make adjustments in needle size, or choose another yarn altogether.
