Vitamin C megadose during nursing

I'm getting a cold and I am trying to fight it naturally. I usually take a lot of vitamin c. I took 2,000 mg today and I got diarrhea. I'd like to take a few more thousand mgs tonight. What is safe during nursing for a cold and how much vit. c can I take?

thanks!

You can take more, just ease off slowly when you're done as opposed to dropping off doses quickly.

However, if you were nearly at bowel tolerance at 2,000 mg, you don't have much more to take anyway that your body would use. I'm surprised, since you have a cold.

I was shocked, too. It was a different kind than what I"m used to, maybe that made a difference. I usually take it with rose hips. This was just the powdered ascorbic acid or whatever. I took 2,000 more at bedtime though...we'll see what today brings.
