XP: Snacks to keep on hand

I'm looking for ideas of snacks to keep on hand while nursing. I need things that won't spoil, but I can't eat packaged foods because I'm on a low sodium diet.

So far I'm thinking nuts (specifically almonds and peanuts) and dried fruit (raisins, prunes, apricots).

Any other thoughts? These are also things that DS will eat, so I figured we can snack together!

Dried fruit, definitely! And icepops. Maybe some fruit chews?

trail mix.... loooooooove trail mix. granted that IS dried fruit and nuts... but its a very tasty way of eating them so you dont get as sick of it as fast (you can just pick out all of one kind or eat a whole handful)

also, if you like popsicles... frozen grapes are a very healthy natural bite size alternative!

Oooo Just Tomatoes! They do all freeze dried fruits and veggies and they are goooood. I'm pretty sure they don't salt them so they should be fine. Can you do granola bars? Or homemade granola even if the regular stuff is not low enough in sodium?

Raw almonds and dried cranberries is a great combo that I love to snack on!

This made me laugh - DS is obsessed with GORP with craisins. He eats it in a specific order - chocolate chips if they're in there, craisins, raisins, and then the peanuts.

And frozen grapes sounds awesome! That would be a great way to hydrate a little as well. You just pop 'em in the freezer? nothing special?

i de-vine mine... wash them and dry them (do not leave them wet or they stick together) and then put them in a container in the freezer. I do not know if thats the proper way of doing it, per-say, but its how I do it lol.

what about roasted soybeans, roasted chickpeas, whole wheat crackers, rice cakes & peanut butter, beef jerky, fresh fruit (like oranges or apples, ones that are easy to grab and go), dry cereal, granola bars? you can make your own granola bars and roasted beans, to control the ingredients.

Unless we make crackers, I can't have them (and I'm in no mood to make enough crackers to have on hand lol). But I think I could do rice cakes, and we keep homemade peanut butter on hand (plus can get unsalted, it's just a little more expensive).

jerkys prolly not a good idea for low sodium...
