Wondering how to stop this. I didn't care about it until today - he has a scab on his testicles from grabbing and playing. Kinda funny but I guess I should try to stop it! grin.

We're diaper free during the day and some naps. Gotta make a EC mat so we can go DF during all naps and eventually nights! Have had a handful of dry nights since we started at 3 weeks. Love EC!!!!

ooo, a scab would make that a problem. New Skin? It's a paint on bandage substitute. It stings so you'd want to apply it while he was sleep-suckling (as with all stinging remedies, blowing also minimizes the stinging). That should, after the initial sensation, reducing itching feelings and will protect the wound a bit so there aren't loose edges for his nails to catch at.

Other than that, make sure his nails are trimmed and put him in a more fitted back up diaper/trainer until things heal. That area has a lot of little veins and such so should heal pretty quickly, within a few days once he's not picking at it anymore. When you know things'll be pretty exciting, like dancing around together or playing with the family's pets, go ahead and give nakey butt time, but not while you're doing quiet things like reading or nursing.

Obviously, be prepared with distractions during potty unities. And maybe hold him over the potty until he heals if he's really hard to distract from injuring himself?

After this heals up, when (or if ) he's still picking at himself, I'd tell him to be gentle every time it looks like he might scratch and I'd also check his fingernail length regularly.

But most importantly, as I had to say to my daughter 2 days ago, remember that pens are for paper and not for privates.
